The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) is the principal organizing body of women's professional tennis. It governs the WTA Tour, which is the worldwide professional tennis tour for women, and was founded to create a better future for women's tennis. The WTA's corporate headquarters is in St. Petersburg, Florida, with its European headquarters in London and its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Beijing.

The Amelia Island Championships was a women's tennis tournament held in Amelia Island Plantation and later Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, United States. The Women's Tennis Association event was an International series tournament played on outdoor green clay courts from 1980 to 2010.
The WTA Auckland Open is a professional women's tennis tournament in Auckland, New Zealand. The tournament is played annually, in the first week of January, at the ASB Tennis Centre in the suburb of Parnell, just east of the Central Business District. It is an International level tournament in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) World Tour. The equivalent men's event, the ATP Auckland Open, is played in the following week, immediately ahead of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open.
The Ameritech Cup is a defunct WTA Tour affiliated tennis tournament held every year from 1971 until 1997 in Chicago, Illinois in the United States. Its sponsors were Virginia Slims from 1971 to 1978 and again from 1983 to 1994, Avon from 1979 to 1982 and Ameritech from 1995 to 1997. The tournament was classified as Tier III in 1988-1989, Tier I in 1990 and Tier II until 1997, and was played on indoor carpet courts.
The Austrian Open was a WTA Tour affiliated women's clay court tennis tournament founded in 1896 as the Championships of Austria a combined men's and women's tournament. Following World War II it was known as the Austrian International Championships up to the open era.
The Puerto Rico Open is a defunct women's tennis tournament. First played in San Juan, Puerto Rico, it then moved to Dorado, Puerto Rico in 1990 and was played on outdoor hard courts. In 1988, when Tier categories were first introduced on the WTA Tour, the Open became part of Tier IV. One last edition was played in 1995, this time featuring in Tier III. The event was the successor tournament to the Avon Futures of Puerto Rico (1980-1981).
The Ladies Open Lausanne was originally founded in 1899 as the Swiss International Championships. It was a women's professional tennis tournament last held in Lausanne but has been held in a number of locations in Switzerland.

The United Airlines Tournament of Champions is a defunct WTA Tour affiliated tennis tournament played from 1980 to 1986. It was held in Orlando, Florida in the United States from 1980 through 1985, where it was played on outdoor hard courts at the Greenelefe Golf & Tennis Resort from 1980 through 1983 and on clay courts at the Grand Cypress resort in 1984 and 1985. In 1986 the tournament moved to Marco Island, Florida where it was played on clay courts. Only players who had won a tournament with prize money of at least $20,000 during the previous year were eligible to enter the event.
The Eckerd Open is a defunct WTA Tour affiliated women's tennis tournament founded in 1953 as a combined men's and women's clay court tennis tournament called the Masters Invitational tournament in St Augustine, Florida. In 1954 that event moved to Jacksonville, Florida until 1959. In 1960 the event moved to St Petersburg. It remained at the former location until 1974. After the combined event the St. Petersburg Masters Invitational finished in 1970. The women's event continued under various brand names and various locations in the Tampa Bay Area until it was abolished in 1990.
The Taipei Women's Championships is a defunct WTA Tour-affiliated women's tennis tournament played from 1986 to 1989 and from 1992 to 1994. It was held in Taipei, Taiwan and played on indoor carpet courts from 1986 to 1988, and on outdoor hard courts in 1989 and from 1992 to 1994. The 1980s tours were sponsored partly by Virginia Slims, and the 1990s events were sponsored by Kraft Foods and Procter & Gamble, the latter of which were named P&G Taiwan Women's Open or Taiwan Open in short. Anne Minter and Shi-Ting Wang were the most successful players at the tournament, each winning the singles competition twice.
The Avon Futures of Puerto Rico was a defunct tennis tournament founded in 1977 as the Borniquen Tennis Classic. It was held in San Juan in Puerto Rico and was played on outdoor hard courts. It was the successor event to the early Caribe Hilton Invitational that was a combined mens and womens tournament. This event ran until 1978 when it was discontinued. In 1986 a new successor womens event was established called the Puerto Rico Open initially played in San Juan, it moved to Dorado, Puerto Rico in 1990 until that event ended in 1995.

It was the 10th edition of the tournament and was held from April 5 through April 11, 1982. Second-seeded Martina Navratilova won the singles title and earned $34,000 first-prize money.
