Muhammad Ayub Afridi is a Pakistani politician who had been a Member of the Senate of Pakistan from March 2018 to December 2021.
Afridi was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on general seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2018 Pakistani Senate election. [3] [4] He took oath as Senator on 12 March 2018. [5]
On 23 November 2021,he resigned from his seat as senator and was appointed as Advisor to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis. [6] [7] [8]
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is a political party in Pakistan. It was founded in 1996 by Pakistani cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan,who served as the country's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. The PTI is one of the three major Pakistani political parties alongside the Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML–N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP),and it is the largest party in terms of representation in the National Assembly of Pakistan since the 2018 general election. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is a Pakistani politician who is the former Chief Minister of Punjab. The Election commission of Pakistan announced the election schedule on 11 February 2021. 52 of the 104 Senators had retired on 7 February 2021. After the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhawa,FATA seats were abolished and there was no election on 4 of the 8 seats. The rest of the 4 seats will be abolished in 2024. Official results of the Senate Elections were announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan on 10 March 2021.

After the merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,the remaining 4 out of 8 seats will also be abolished. 48 seats from four Provinces and the Federal Capital will be up for election.
Elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,a province of Pakistan are conducted in accordance with the Constitution of Pakistan. The Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa creates laws regarding the conduct of local body elections unilaterally while any changes by the Provincial Assembly to the conduct of Provincial elections need to be approved by the Parliament of Pakistan. On 5 August 2023,the results of the 2023 digital census were approved by the Council of Common Interests headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Therefore,elections have been delayed for several months,as new delimitations will be published on 14 December 2023,as announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). On 2 November 2023,the ECP announced,in agreement with the President of Pakistan,Arif Alvi,that the elections will be held on 8 February 2024. This election will be held concurrently with nationwide general elections and other provincial elections.
