The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is a political party in Pakistan established in 1996 by Pakistani cricketer and politician Imran Khan,who served as the country's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. The PTI ranks among the three major Pakistani political parties alongside the Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML–N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP),and it is the largest party in terms of representation in the National Assembly of Pakistan since the 2018 general election. Anwar Saifullah Khan is a Pakistani politician and industrialist. As a member of the Pakistan Muslim League (Junejo),he served in Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's cabinet as Federal Minister of Environment and Urban Affairs from 1990 to 1993 and as Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources from 1994 to 1996 in coalition with Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

The triennial Senate Electionsof Pakistan were held on 3 March 2018 to replace 52 retiring senators - half of the Senate's strength - with the winning candidates serving six-year terms. Overall,Pakistan Muslim League (N) came out as the largest party,followed by the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. The results of these elections were steeped in controversy due to rampant allegations of horse trading and vote-buying,which lead to the Prime Minister and opposition leader Imran Khan calling for reforms. Prior to this election,PML (N) candidates were declared as independents by the Election Commission of Pakistan owing to a Supreme Court judgment.
Shakeel Ahmad is a Pakistani politician who was the Provincial Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Revenue,in office from 29 August 2018 till 26 January 2020. He is currently a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf since 28 February 2024. Prior to that Shakeel was a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2013 to 2018 and from 2018 to 2023. He has served as the Minister for Public Health Engineering. He also served as Provincial Minister for Communication &Works in the 2024 Gandapur ministry but resigned over controversy in August 2024.

The Election commission of Pakistan announced the election schedule on 11 February 2021. 52 of the 104 Senators had retired on 7 February 2021. After the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhawa,FATA seats were abolished and there was no election on 4 of the 8 seats. The rest of the 4 seats will be abolished in 2024. Official results of the Senate Elections were announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan on 10 March 2021.

Provincial elections were held in the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 8 February 2024 to elect members of the 12th Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On 5 August 2023,the results of the 2023 digital census were approved by the Council of Common Interests headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Therefore,elections have been delayed for several months,as new delimitations will be published on 14 December 2023,as announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). On 2 November 2023,the ECP announced,in agreement with the President of Pakistan,Arif Alvi,that the elections would be held on 8 February 2024. This election was held concurrently with nationwide general elections and other provincial elections.
Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi is a Pakistani politician and businessman. He is a senator and serves currently as Interior Minister of Pakistan since 11 March 2024 and the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board since 6 February 2024.
