The City Council of Valladolid (Spanish: Ayuntamiento de Valladolid) is the top-tier administrative and governing body ( ayuntamiento ) of the municipality of Valladolid, Spain.

Organization

Its organization regime is based on the Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulatory of the Bases of the Local Regime. [1] Integrated by the Mayor and the councillors, the ayuntamiento is charged with the government and administration of the municipality. [1] The Mayor, who holds the highest representation of the city, directs politics government and administration and presides over the whole corporation as well as the plenary. [1] The later is conformed by all the council members and it is tasked with adopting strategic decisions, overseeing the executive bodies and passing by-laws and regulations. [1]

Mayor

The Mayor is elected by the members of the plenary among its members the day the new municipal corporation is formed after the local election, and has a mandate for the 4-year duration of the elected body. Since 13 June 2015 the Mayor is Óscar Puente. [2]

City hall

The city hall is located at the Plaza Mayor, 1, in the city centre. Its construction started in 1892. The building, a work of Repullés y Vargas, was inaugurated on 19 September 1908, although by that time the construction was not yet finished. [3] [4]

Antolín Luis de Santiago y Juárez is a Spanish former politician, lawyer, professor and journalist He was a member of the FET y de las JONS party, and was the Mayor of Valladolid from 12 August 1971 to 12 February 1974. He was worked as a representative in the city of information and tourism in Valladolid. He served as the civil governor of the Province of Cádiz from February 1974 to August 1977, who was also re-elected to the civil governor of the Province of Burgos, in office from August 1977 to July 1980. He retired from politics after 1980. He was the procurator in the francoist courts from 1971 to 1974. After his son came into politics, he moved away from politics after that.

Óscar Puente Santiago is a Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) politician who has served as Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility since 2023. He served as a city councillor in Valladolid from 2007 to 2023 and as the city's mayor from 2015 to 2023.

Pablo Fernando Puente Aparicio was a Spanish architect and university professor. He was known, among other professional work, for being the architect of the first nine editions of the famous exhibition "Las Edades del Hombre" and for his teaching work at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Valladolid (ETSAV).
