Nesimi is an Azerbaijani biopic film shot in Baku, Absheron, Gobustan, Nakhichevan, Shamakhi (Azerbaijan), Bukhara, Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Halab, Damascus (Syria) in 1973. Screenplay was written by Isa Huseynov. Directed by Hasan Seyidbeyli, this film is in history drama genre depicting the life of a prominent Azerbaijani philosopher and poet, Imadaddin Nasimi. The film is considered one of the best Azerbaijani movies in historical genre produced during Soviet times. After this debut in a big movie, the actor in the leading role, Rasim Balayev became a notable actor after this movie.

Zakir Jabbar Bey oglu Mammadov was a correspondent member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Doctor in Philosophy. Mammadov specialized in Eastern philosophy, and focused mostly on the history of Azerbaijani philosophy. He had refuted the thesis ‘no professional philosopher lived in Azerbaijan in Middle Ages except for Bahmanyar’.

Ələsgərli is a ghost village on the river Zəyəmçay in the Fuzuli District of Azerbaijan. It is set on undulating land, some 7km due east of Fuzuli town, backed by more substantial mountain foothills. Video footage released after its 2020 recapture by Azerbaijani forces show an intact metalled road running through an otherwise devastated settlement of widely spaced farmhouses that have long ago fallen into crumbling ruins.

Shakhandan is the oldest of the three surviving ancient cemeteries of the city of Shamakhi, Azerbaijan. It is located in the southwestern part of the city. The brother of the famous 15th century poet Nasimi, the poet Shakhandan, is supposedly buried here, and the cemetery bears his name.
