Atomic Kitten are an English girl group formed in Liverpool in 1998, whose current members are Liz McClarnon and Natasha Hamilton. The group was founded by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) members Andy McCluskey and Stuart Kershaw, who served as principal songwriters during Atomic Kitten's early years. The group's debut album Right Now was released in October 2000 and charted at number 39 in the United Kingdom. After five top ten singles, original member Kerry Katona quit – four weeks before "Whole Again" reached number one in the UK Singles Chart – and was replaced by former Precious singer Jenny Frost. "Whole Again" became the group's most successful single, staying at number one for four weeks in the UK and six weeks in Germany, and reaching number one in many other territories; in Britain, it was the 13th-best-selling single of the 2000s. The group re-released their debut album, with some tracks re-recorded with Frost's vocals: it peaked at number one in the UK and was certified double platinum after selling over 600,000 copies.
Tricia Marie "Shaznay" Lewis is an English singer and songwriter. Lewis rose to fame as a member of the girl group All Saints which she formed with Melanie Blatt in 1993. As a member of All Saints, Lewis won two Brit Awards and an Ivor Novello Award, and co-wrote three of the group's five UK number-one singles: "Never Ever", "Bootie Call" and "Pure Shores". In 2002, Lewis starred in the film Bend It Like Beckham.
Bloodshy & Avant are a Swedish songwriting and production duo consisting of Christian "Bloodshy" Karlsson and Pontus "Avant" Winnberg. They have worked with many prominent artists, including Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Ms. Dynamite, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Kelis, Girls' Generation, Christina Milian, Sky Ferreira, Hikaru Utada and BoA. UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by jungle, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop and R&B. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular "2-step" rhythms. Garage tracks also commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-stretched or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structure at a tempo usually around 130 BPM.
"You Might Need Somebody" is a song written by Tom Snow and Nan O'Byrne, and first recorded in 1980 by American singer and guitarist Turley Richards. The following year, American jazz and R&B singer and songwriter Randy Crawford released her version which reached No. 11 in the United Kingdom and was a modest hit in Flanders (Belgium) and New Zealand. In 1997, English singer Shola Ama's version reached the top-10 in the UK and in several other countries including Ireland, France, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.
In Return is the second studio album by British singer Shola Ama. It was released by Freakstreet and WEA on 8 November 1999. The album saw Ama working with various producers such as Fred Jerkins III, Stargate, Soulshock and Karlin, D'Influence and Ali Shaheed Muhammad. Ama would also co-write some of the songs on the album, along with Angie Stone, Babyface, and David Foster.
"Imagine" is a song by English singer Shola Ama, released as the second single from her 1999 second studio album In Return. It was produced by Fred Jerkins III and written by Jerkins, Harvey Mason Jr., LaShawn Daniels, and Ama. In April 2000, the song reached number 24 on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the UK Dance Singles Chart due to the garage remix by Club Asylum. NME included the remix of "Imagine" in their "25 essential UK garage anthems" list.
"You're the One I Love" is a song by English singer Shola Ama, released as the first single from her debut album, Much Love (1997), in 1996. On the first single release, it reached number 81 on the UK Singles Chart, but after her successful cover version of "You Might Need Somebody" in 1997, it was re-released in August of that year and peaked at number three, becoming her highest-charting hit in the UK. Elsewhere, the single charted in France, the Netherlands and New Zealand.
