Career

The ship was ordered on 2 May 2010. The contract was awarded to Khulna Shipyard in Khulna, Bangladesh, where the keel was laid in 2011. The ship was launched on 23 June 2013 [2] and commissioned on 23 December 2013. [1] She is currently serving under the command of Commander Bangladesh Navy Flotilla (COMBAN)'at Chittagong'.

Design

BNS Aparajeya is 50.4 metres (165 ft) long, 7.5 metres (25 ft) wide, 4.1 metres (13 ft) high. It has a displacement of 350 tonnes. She has a top speed of 23 knots (43 km/h). Its complement is 45 persons and can carry out missions lasting up to seven days at a time.

Armament

The ship is equipped with a pair of 20 mm anti-aircraft guns and a pair of 37 mm guns. It can also be armed with naval mines and MANPADS.

The shipyard has a slipway with a capacity to dock and undock vessels up to 700 tons lightweight and overall length of 84 meters.

BNS Gomati is an Island-class offshore patrol vessel of the Bangladesh Navy. She was originally built as a Fishery Protection Vessel for the British Royal Navy, entering service as HMS Anglesey in 1979. She was sold to Bangladesh in 2002, entering service in 2003.

The Type 056 light frigate is a class of warship deployed by the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). They replace older patrol craft and some of the Type 053H frigates. The first Type 056 entered service in February 2013. An anti-submarine warfare (ASW) variant, commonly known as Type 056A, has also entered service. Following construction of the Aba in December 2019, China ceased building of Type 056 corvettes to focus on procuring bigger warships for high sea missions.
