Belagavi district, also known as Belgaum district, is a district in the state of Karnataka, India. The district is known as Sugar Bowl of Karnataka with 1.5 lakh (150,000) hectares being used for commercial production and it has displaced Mandya district in sugar cane production over the last decade. Transport in Karnataka

Karnataka, a state in South India has a well-developed transport system. Its capital city, Bengaluru is well-connected by air to domestic and international destinations and the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in the city is one of the busiest airports in India. It was also the headquarters of the airlines Air Deccan and Kingfisher Airlines. The road transport is also well developed in the state with many National and State highways providing means for fast transportation. The headquarters of the South-Western Railway division of Indian Railways is located at Hubballi and this division governs most of the railway network in the state. Konkan Railway which passes along the coastal region of the state is considered one of the toughest engineering projects being undertaken in India till date. It has parks, government offices, many educational institutions, business houses and hotels, tourist spots, shopping destinations, stadiums, museums, temples, mosques, churches, art galleries and entertainment zones.

Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board

The Karnataka State Secondary Education Examination Board, abbreviated as, KSEEB, is a state education board in the Indian state of Karnataka. It head offce situated at 6th Cross, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru. KSEEB came into existence in the year 1966, has been conducting SSLC exams in every year month of March/April and other examinations are also conducted by this board.

KLE Technological University is a private university in Hubli-Dharwad, Karnataka, India. It was earlier known as B.V.B. College of Engineering and Technology (BVBCET) and was upgraded to a university under the KLE Technological University Act, 2012. The school was founded by the KLE Society, Belgaum, in 1947.

IIT Dharwad

Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad is an autonomous engineering and technology institute in Dharwad, Karnataka, India. IIT Dharwad started functioning from July 2016 in a temporary campus, previously of the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) in Belur village, on the outskirts of Dharwad city. It was formally inaugurated on 28 August 2016. For the academic year 2016–2017, the institute offered B.Tech courses in three branches, viz. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering.

Raja Lakhamagouda Sardesai (1864–1942) was a philanthropist, first Barrister-at-Law from Karnataka and a ruler of Vantamuri princely state in Belagavi district. He was the 16th ruler of Vantamuri princely state. He ascended the throne at the age of 13 years in 1877. The princely state had a Wada at Vantamuri which was built by Prabhu Basavantrao and it was submerged in 1978-79 when a dam was built downstream at Hidkal.
