Baby Tuckoo was an English hard rock band, formed in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England in 1982. [1] Their name is taken from the first sentence of the James Joyce novel A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man . [2] They were generally considered a part of the second generation of new wave of British heavy metal. [1]

They released two albums with Rob Armitage (vocals), Neil Saxton (guitar), Andy Barrott (keyboards, guitar), Paul Smith (bass) and Tony Sugden (drums). [3] Prior to their recording career, Steve Holton (vocals) and Andy Tidswell (keyboards) were in the band. [2]

Armitage left to join Accept in 1987, but was replaced by the American David Reece in 1988 without having taken part in any releases from the band. [3] He later joined the UK outfit Jagged Edge, and founded a band named Passion.

Men Without Hats are a Canadian new wave and synth-pop band, originally from Montreal, Quebec. Their music is characterized by the baritone voice of their American-born Canadian lead singer Ivan Doroschuk, as well as their elaborate use of synthesizers and electronic processing. They achieved their greatest popularity in the 1980s with "The Safety Dance", a worldwide Top Ten hit and "Pop Goes the World". After a hiatus for most of the 1990s and 2000s, Doroschuk reformed the band in 2010, and released Love in the Age of War (2012). The reformed group, based in Vancouver, has continued to perform, including a European tour in 2015 and Australia in 2016.

Frehley's Comet was an American rock band formed and led by ex-Kiss lead guitarist Ace Frehley. The group released two studio albums and one live EP before Frehley left the band to release his 1989 solo album, Trouble Walkin'.

Vardis

Vardis are an English three-piece hard rock, boogie rock and heavy metal band from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England, who enjoyed hits between 1978 and 1986, and reformed in 2014.

Witchfinder General were an English heavy metal band from Stourbridge. They were part of the new wave of British heavy metal scene and have been cited as a major influence on the doom metal genre. They were named after the 1968 British horror film Witchfinder General.

Waysted

Waysted were a British heavy metal band, formed by the UFO bass guitarist Pete Way and the Scottish rocker Fin Muir in 1982. Recruiting Frank Noon, Ronnie Kayfield and Paul Raymond, Waysted signed to Chrysalis Records and released Vices in 1983.

Mama's Boys were a 1980s hard rock/heavy metal group from County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland; featuring the three McManus brothers Pat, a.k.a. "The Professor",, John, Tommy (drums). Later in their career they became a four-piece, adding Rick Chase on vocals in 1986, in turn replaced by Keith Murrell in 1987 due to Rick's ill-health. Keith was later replaced with Connor McKeon in 1989 who was subsequently replaced with Mike Wilson in 1990.

Demon (band)

Demon is an English heavy metal band, formed in 1979 by vocalist Dave Hill and guitarist Mal Spooner, both hailing from Leek, Staffordshire. It is considered important to the new wave of British heavy metal movement.

Apartment 26

Apartment 26 were an industrial metal/nu metal band from Leamington Spa, England. They played Ozzfest in 1999 and split up in 2004. They worked with Tchad Blake, at Real World Studios, on their self-financed Music For The Massive, having scrapped "Album 1.5" after two years of production. The result was a tighter band and looser "live" sound, captured by Blake by making the band perform live in the recording studio. After selling the finished record to Atlantic/WEA, the label shed half of its roster during a merge with Elektra Records, including Apartment 26. The single "Give Me More" was a minor Modern Rock hit in 2004.

White Spirit was an English heavy metal band from Hartlepool, England, best remembered for guitarist Janick Gers who went on to play with Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, and ultimately, Iron Maiden. Other members of the band were Bruce Ruff (vocals), Malcolm Pearson (keyboards), Phil Brady (bass), and Graeme Crallan (drums).

Blitzkrieg (band)

Blitzkrieg are an English heavy metal band formed in Leicester in 1980. The current line-up consists of Brian Ross (vocals), Alan Ross (guitar), Liam Ferguson (bass), Matt Graham (drums), and Nick Jennison (guitar). Ross is the only remaining member from the band's founding, and the band are now based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Shy were a British metal band formed in 1980 under the name "Trojan", hailing from Birmingham, England.

Cloven Hoof are an English heavy metal band from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England, that was active from 1979 to 1990, and again from around 2000 onwards. The band was associated with the new wave of British heavy metal movement, alongside bands such as Iron Maiden, Saxon and Diamond Head. Enduring many line-up changes, only founding bassist Lee Payne has remained present throughout the band's career.

Marseille were a British heavy metal band from Liverpool, England, formed in 1976 by Neil Buchanan, Andy Charters and Keith Knowles. Marseille were the first band to win the "UK Battle of the Bands" competition at Wembley Arena in 1977. Marseille were the first new wave of British heavy metal band to secure a major recording contract and to tour in the United States, as well as the first NWOBHM band to release an album there.

McCoy was a British heavy metal band under the new wave of British heavy metal era. John McCoy also led his own band under the simple name McCoy during the 1980s, which has been integrated with members of bands like Iron Maiden, Samson and Gillan.

Billy Idol English musician, singer and songwriter

William Michael Albert Broad, known professionally as Billy Idol, is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and actor who holds dual British and American citizenship. He first achieved fame in the 1970s emerging from the London punk rock scene as the lead singer of the group Generation X. Subsequently, he embarked on a solo career which led to international recognition and made Idol a lead artist during the MTV-driven "Second British Invasion" in the United States. The name "Billy Idol" was inspired by a schoolteacher's description of him as "idle".

Chrome Molly are an English hard rock band from Leicester, England. They formed in 1982, releasing four albums before splitting up in 1991. They re-formed in 2009.

Black Rose are an English heavy metal band from Teesside in the north east of England. They formed in 1976 under the name ICE but changed it to Black Rose in 1980 and were one of many British bands considered part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. The original line-up was Steve Bardsley, Kenny Nicholson (guitar), Marty Rajn (bass) and Mark Eason (drums). Over the next nine years the band went through various line-up changes and released quite a few records including two albums: Boys Will Be Boys (1984) and Walk It How You Talk It (1986) before splitting up in 1989. The band then re-formed in 2006 and released their newest album Cure for Your Disease in 2010.

Grand Prix were an English hard rock and pop rock band, active between 1978 and 1984 and notable for featuring two future members of Uriah Heep.
