Bacilos is a music group based in Miami, Florida, US. A leading practitioner of latin pop, the band had several hits on the Billboard Latin charts and had considerable success in the Latin Grammies, most notably, their album Caraluna which won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album, and album Sin Vergüenza which was nominated in 2005 for the same award.

Jorge Alberto Villamizar Iregui is a Colombian musician, singer and composer, leader of the band Bacilos, and one of the most representative Latin American singers. Villamizar came to prominence as the lead member of the band Bacilos. Bacilos released their album Madera in 1999, and in 2000 they recorded their first album with Warner Music, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy award for Best New Artist. Caraluna (2002) was released and won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album, and Villamizar was awarded a Latin Grammy for Best Tropical Song for the second single "Mi Primer Millón". The album Sin Vergüenza won a Latin Grammy and the track "Pasos de Gigante" became the band's only top ten single in the Billboard Top Latin Songs, which peaked at number eight. Bacilos disbanded in 2007 and Villamizar made his debut solo album in 2008. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he enrolled in various musical ensembles, including Zas and Los Abuelos de la Nada. López has worked with several artists producing their albums, including Caifanes, Stephanie Salas, Andrés Calamaro, Paulina Rubio, Diego Torres and Miranda!. López also was the executive producer of the tribute album for the English band Queen in 1997. His work has been recognized with two Latin Grammy Awards for Producer of the Year in 2006 and 2009, out of four consecutive nominations, and a Grammy Award for producing Limón y Sal by Julieta Venegas.

The album is the soundtrack for the 2000 film Eu Tu Eles directed by Andrucha Waddington, starred by Regina Casé, Lima Duarte, Stênio Garcia and Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos. Set in Russas, the film is about a countywoman who lives together with her three husbands and two children in the arid backlands of the northeast of Brazil. Alex, Jorge y Lena is a Latin supergroup, formed in 2010, that consists of singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Lena Burke, Álex Ubago and Jorge Villamizar. Their sound is influenced by all three members, who played instruments and wrote all the tracks on their debut album, Alex, Jorge y Lena, which was released in September 2010. The songs on the album are mostly about love and relationships. The first single, "Estar Contigo", charted in the United States.

Joyas Prestadas: Pop and Joyas Prestadas: Banda are the 11th and final studio albums by recording artist Jenni Rivera, released on November 21, 2011, by Fonovisa Records. Joyas Prestadas consists of a double album with eleven cover songs, each recorded with two distinct styles of music. The first half being recorded in pop, while the second was recorded in the Regional Mexican subgenre of banda. The album was produced by Enrique Martinez. According to Rivera, the songs she chose to cover were those she was enamored with while working as a cashier in a record store.
