The Nigeria national badminton team represents Nigeria in international badminton team competitions. It is managed by the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, the governing body of badminton in Nigeria. Nigeria was one of the seven African countries that formed the Badminton Confederation of Africa on 31 August 1977. The country first competed in the African Badminton Championships in 1980.
Badminton was one of the few main sports to be inaugurated at the 1959 SEAP Games. The events were held in Bangkok, Thailand from 12 to 17 December 1959. Due to the team events being cancelled, only two competitions were held, which were men singles and in men doubles. Only Thailand, Burma and Laos took part in the events.
Singapore competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the nation's seventeenth appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut at the 1948 Games. In addition, Singapore was part of the Malaysian team at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, but did not attend at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, because of its support for the United States boycott. The opening ceremony flag-bearers for Singapore are table tennis player Yu Mengyu and shuttler Loh Kean Yew. Diver Jonathan Chan is the flag-bearer for the closing ceremony.
The 2020 Badminton Asia Team Championships was the third edition of Badminton Asia Team Championships, staged at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila, Philippines, from 11 to 16 February 2020. This championships was organized by the Badminton Asia with Philippine Badminton Association as host organiser and sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation. This tournament served as the Asian qualifiers for the 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup in Denmark. Competitors could also accumulate points as part of qualification process for 2020 Summer Olympics badminton tournament in Tokyo. Indonesia and Japan were the defending champions on men's and women's category respectively. They both successfully defended their title.
The Mauritius national badminton team represents Mauritius in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by the Mauritius Badminton Association, the governing body of badminton in Mauritius.
Huang Zhanzhong is a Chinese badminton player. He won the men's doubles title at the 1995 Asian Cup, and was part of Chinese team that won the 1990 Asian Games and 1995 Sudirman Cup. Huang competed in the men's doubles tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics.
The Laos national badminton team represents Laos in international badminton team competitions. It is managed by the Badminton Lao Federation. The Laotian team participated in the Southeast Asian Games and won three bronze medals in 1959 and 1961. The national team also competes in the Lao International, also known as the BEERLAO International Series.
The 1980 Asian Invitational Badminton Championships which was the fourth edition of Asian Invitational Championships took place in the month of December in Bangkok, Thailand.

The qualifying process for the 1979 Thomas Cup took place from 27 August 1978 to 25 February 1979 to decide the final teams which will play in the final tournament.
