The ASEAN Championship, currently known as the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the primary football tournament organized by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) for men's national teams in Southeast Asia.
The Thailand national football team represents Thailand in senior international football and is controlled by the Football Association of Thailand.
The Singapore national football team represents Singapore in the senior men's international football. It is organised by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), the governing body of football in Singapore, which is affiliated with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the regional ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). The 2016 AFF Championship, sponsored by Suzuki and officially known as the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016, was the 11th edition of the AFF Championship, the football championship of nations affiliated to the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). The whole tournament ran from 19 November to 17 December 2016. After the recognition by FIFA as a "category A" tournament, the 2016 edition of the tournament would grant international ranking points for each match.
The men's basketball tournament at the 2015 SEA Games was held in Kallang, Singapore at the OCBC Arena Hall 1 from 9 to 15 June.

The competition consisted of 4 tournaments, which was held individually during 30 October 2014 to 23 November October 2015, in 4 ISTAF membership countries including; Myanmar, Malaysia, South Korea, and the final series was held in the supremacy country in such the sport, Thailand.

Basketball at the 1995 SEA Games was held from 10 to 16 October 1997 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This edition featured both tournaments for men's and women's team. All matches were held in 700th Anniversary Sport Complex Gymnasium 2.
The 2018 Badminton Asia Team Championships was the second edition of Badminton Asia Team Championships, held at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium in Alor Setar, Malaysia, from 6 to 11 February 2018 and were organised by the Badminton Asia. This tournament also served as the Asian qualification for the 2018 Thomas & Uber Cup.

It was played from 1 to 15 December with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage to compete in a single-elimination tournament. Each tie was played on a home-and-away two-legged basis. The away goals rule, extra time and penalty shoot-out were used to decide the winner if necessary.
The men's football tournament at the 2019 SEA Games was held from November 25 to December 10, 2019 in the Philippines. All eleven Southeast Asian nations participated in the men's tournament. Matches were played in Manila, Biñan and Imus. Men's teams were restricted to under-22 players.
The 2020 Badminton Asia Team Championships was the third edition of Badminton Asia Team Championships, staged at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila, Philippines, from 11 to 16 February 2020. This championships was organized by the Badminton Asia with Philippine Badminton Association as host organiser and sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation. This tournament served as the Asian qualifiers for the 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup in Denmark. Competitors could also accumulate points as part of qualification process for 2020 Summer Olympics badminton tournament in Tokyo. Indonesia and Japan were the defending champions on men's and women's category respectively. They both successfully defended their title.
The women's team badminton tournament at the 1977 SEA Games was held from 19 to 20 November 1977 at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The defending champions were Malaysia who beat Thailand 3–0 in the last edition of the Games.
