The Badminton men's team event at the 1998 Asian Games was scheduled from 8 - 11 December 1998 at Thamassat University Sports Complex, Bangkok, Thailand.

Contents

Defending champion, Indonesia successfully retained their gold medal after defeating China 4 - 0 in the final. It was in this event, the Indonesian team had introduced their future star, The Enigma Taufik Hidayat for the first time. Being just at 17, Hidayat clinched the winning point in the 2nd singles match to earn Indonesia the gold medal. Below are the summaries and results for the Semifinals and Final matches of the event.

Indonesia is regularly a participant in the Thomas Cup, Uber Cup, and Sudirman Cup badminton championships. Indonesia is regularly participating in regional multi-events sport, such as Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, and Olympic Games. In Southeast Asia, Indonesia is one of the major sport powerhouses in the region by winning the Southeast Asian Games 10 times since 1977.

Chen Jin (badminton) Badminton player

Chen Jin is a retired male badminton player from China. He is the former World Men's singles Champion, after defeating Taufik Hidayat in the final of the 2010 BWF World Championships in Paris. He currently coaches the Chinese elite Women's Singles.

Hsieh Yu-hsing is a men's singles and mixed doubles international badminton player from Chinese Taipei (Taiwan). Hsieh started to play badminton international championships since 2002. At the moment, Hsieh had become the men's singles No.1 international player in Taiwan, but he always being drawn to face more stronger players in the overseas countries tournament. In 2008, 2009, and 2010, he always knocked out in the second round and sometimes in the last eight in most tournament he attended. He was even knocked out in the first round because of facing more stronger overseas players. The badminton women's team tournament at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta took place from 19 to 22 August at Istora Gelora Bung Karno.
