Badminton was contested at the 2015 Summer Universiade from July 6 to 12 at the Hwasun Hanium Culture Sports Center in Hwasun, South Korea. Men's and women's singles, men's, women's, and mixed doubles, and mixed team events will be contested. [1]
South Korea became the overall champion after winning all the events competed, with 6 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals. [2]

South Korea clinched the individual and the team event. In the mixed team event, they won the title with a comprehensive 3–0 beating China. [3] After the Chinese player, Yu Xiaohan was tested positive for doping violation, her women's doubles silver medal was reallocated, and China was disqualified and the team placings were also reallocated. Lee Hyo-jung is a South Korean former badminton player.
Lee Yong-dae is a professional badminton player from South Korea who had been successful in both men's and mixed doubles. He reached world number 1 ranking with 4 different partners, Jung Jae-sung, Ko Sung-hyun and Yoo Yeon-seong in men's doubles, and Lee Hyo-jung in mixed doubles. He won a total of 43 Superseries titles, 37 in the men's doubles, the most of any doubles player in one discipline, and 6 in mixed doubles. He was ranked world number 1 in men's doubles for 117 consecutive weeks with his last partner, Yoo Yeon-seong.
Yu Yang is a retired Chinese badminton player specializing in doubles. She is an Olympic Games gold medalist, three time World Champion and four time Asian Champion. Yu was part of the China winning team in four Sudirman Cup, three Uber Cup, two Asian Games, and in a Asia Team Championships.
The 2013 Summer Universiade, officially known as the XXVII Summer Universiade, was held in the city of Kazan, Russia, the most northerly city ever to host a Summer Universiade. Over 10,400 university athletes from 162 countries participated in 13 mandatory and 14 optional sports, making the 2013 Universiade the biggest ever in the history of the event. For the first time in history a Cultural Universiade was also included, with many festivals and shows held simultaneously with the sporting events. Yu was suspended for 7 months by BWF because one of her sample during 2015 Summer Universiade contained sibutramine. She announced her retirement through her personal social media Weibo on 13 October 2019, where before, she had given a resignation letter to the coach on 30 September 2019.
Chae Yoo-jung is a South Korean badminton player who affiliated with Incheon International Airport team. She is the daughter of former singles player Kim Bok-sun. She won the mixed doubles title at the 2023 World Championships. Chae was a part of the Korean national team that won the world mixed team championships at the 2017 Sudirman Cup.
Seo Seung-jae is a South Korean badminton player. He is the first South Korean player in 24 years to have won two gold medals in a single edition of the BWF World Championships, by winning the mixed and men's doubles event at the 2023 BWF World Championships, partnering with Chae Yoo-jung and Kang Min-hyuk respectively. He competed at the 2017 Sudirman Cup and helped the Korean national team to its fourth trophy.
Baek Ha-na is a South Korean badminton player who attended Cheongsong Girls' High School. She started playing badminton in 2009 after being recommended by her brother, and was selected to join the national team in 2017. She was a gold medalist in the girls' doubles event at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships and the World Junior Championships with Lee Yu-lim. Their first major result in a senior event came when she and Lee reached the final at the 2017 Macau Open, but lost to Chinese pair Huang Yaqiong and Yu Xiaohan with the score 10–21, 17–21.
Lee Yu-lim is a South Korean badminton player who was educated at Janggok High School in Shiheung. She was a gold medallist in the girls' doubles event at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships and the World Junior Championships with Baek Ha-na. Among their key results in senior events, Lee and Baek reached the final at the 2017 Macau Open, but lost to Chinese pair Huang Yaqiong and Yu Xiaohan with the score 10–21, 17–21.
Zhang Wei is a former Chinese badminton player. He was the men's doubles champion at the 2004 National Championships partnered with Sang Yang. He was selected to join the national junior team competed at the 2005 Asian Junior Championships in Jakarta, and won three silver medals. He then won the bronze medal in the senior level at the 2006 Asian Championships in the mixed doubles event partnered with Yu Yang. Zhang also won a silver and bronze medal at the 2007 Summer Universiade in the mixed team and men's doubles event.

Jeong Na-eun is a South Korean badminton player affiliated with Hwasun County team. She was the silver medalist in the mixed doubles at the 2024 Summer Olympics. She was part of Korean winning team in the 2022 Uber Cup and 2022 Asian Games. Jeong reached a career-high as world number 3 in women's doubles with Kim Hye-jeong, and number 4 in mixed doubles with Kim Won-ho.
