China was the host of the 2008 Summer Paralympics, held in Beijing. China's delegation included 547 people, of whom 332 were competitors. The athletes, 197 men and 135 women, ranged in age from 15 to 51 and competed in all twenty sports. 226 of the competitors participated in the Paralympic Games for the first time. The delegation was the largest in Chinese history and at the 2008 Games. China topped the medal count at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens. Singapore sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, represented by six athletes competing in four sports: swimming, sailing, equestrian and athletics. The country's flagbearer at the Games' opening ceremony was supposed to be Desiree Lim, a sailor. However, as the sailing events were held in Qingdao, it was Theresa Goh (swimming) who was the flagbearer on that day. Tan Wee Kiong is a Malaysian badminton player in the doubles event. He is well-known for his former partnership with Goh V Shem, which began at the 2014 Thomas Cup. Together, Tan and Goh won the gold medal in the men's doubles and the mixed team event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. They also won bronze at the 2014 Asian Games. In their Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics, they won the silver medal, becoming the first Malaysian pair to achieve such a feat since 1996. In November 2016, they reached a career-high ranking of world number 1, making them the fourth ever Malaysian men's doubles pair to do so, after Cheah Soon Kit and Yap Kim Hock, Chan Chong Ming and Chew Choon Eng, and Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong.

Goh V Shem is a Malaysian badminton player in the doubles event. He was partnered with Tan Wee Kiong after their outstanding performance at the 2014 Thomas Cup. Together, Goh and Tan won the gold medal for the men's doubles event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games as well as all their matches in the mixed team event, helping Malaysia retain the gold medal for the third consecutive time. They also won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games and the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, thus making them the second ever Malaysian men's doubles pair to win the silver medal at the Olympic Games 20 years after the feat was achieved by Cheah Soon Kit and Yap Kim Hock in 1996 Atlanta. Goh and Tan are also the fourth Malaysian men's doubles pair to hold the world number 1 ranking after Cheah and Yap followed by Chan Chong Ming and Chew Choon Eng, and later on by Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong ever since official rankings were kept in the 80s.

The 2013 All England Super Series Premier was the third super series tournament of the 2013 BWF Super Series. The tournament was held in Birmingham, England from 5–10 March 2013. A qualification was held to fill four places in all five disciplines of the main draws.

The 2016 China Masters Grand Prix Gold is the seventh Grand Prix's badminton tournament of the 2016 BWF Grand Prix and Grand Prix Gold. The tournament was held at the Olympic Sports Center Xincheng Gymnasium in Changzhou, Jiangsu, China on 19–24 April 2016 and has a total purse of $150,000.

The 2016 Australian Super Series was the fifth Super Series tournament of the 2016 BWF Super Series in badminton. The tournament was held in Sydney, Australia from 07–12 June 2016 with a total purse of $750,000.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Goh Jin Wei</span> Malaysian badminton player

Goh Jin Wei is a Malaysian badminton player. She won the 2015 and 2018 BWF World Junior Championships and the girls' singles title at the 2018 Youth Olympics. At senior level, she won the women's singles title at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.

The girls' singles tournament of the 2016 Badminton Asia Junior Championships was held from July 13–17 at the CPB Badminton and Sports Science Training Center, Bangkok. The defending champions of the last edition is He Bingjiao from China. Pornpawee Chochuwong, Goh Jin Wei and Chen Yufei were the top 3 seeded this year. Chen Yufei of China emerged as the champion after defeat Gregoria Mariska of Indonesia in the finals with the score 25–23, 21–14.

Yeo Jia Min is a Singaporean badminton player. She is a former World Junior No.1 and the first Singaporean in either the junior or senior categories to made it to the top of the BWF's ranking system.

Malaysia competed at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 6 October to 18 October 2018. The chef-de-mission of the contingent was former two-time Olympian archer Cheng Chu Sian. Malaysia won its first gold medal at an Olympic event, having previously won silver and bronze medals.

The girls' singles tournament of the 2018 Badminton Asia Junior Championships was held from July 18 to 22. The girls' singles champion of the last edition was Han Yue from China. The silver medallist in the last edition, Phittayaporn Chaiwan top the seedings this year. China has placed 3 girls to fill out the remainder of the top 4 seeded positions.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Wang Zhiyi</span> Chinese badminton player

Wang Zhiyi is a Chinese badminton player from Shashi, Jingzhou, in Hubei province. She started her career as a badminton player by training in Jingzhou sports school. She went to the Hubei provincial training centre in 2009, and was selected to join the team in 2013. In 2016, Wang joined the national team, and became part of the national second team in 2017. She was the girls' singles champion at the 2018 Asian Junior Championships, and also helped the national team to clinch the mixed team title. Wang represented her country at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and clinched the girls' singles silver. She won the women's singles title at the 2022 Asian Championships, which is the biggest title of her career.

The girls' singles tournament of the 2019 Badminton Asia Junior Championships will be held from 24 to 28 July. Wang Zhiyi from China clinched this title in the last edition.

Malaysia first participated at the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Youth Olympic Games. Malaysia made their debut at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2016.
