Baghjan is an Assamese-Moran bilingual film directed and written by filmmaker Jaicheng Zxai Dohutia and produced by MAYAMARA art & culture. [1] The film is about the biggest industrial disasters; oil-leakage tragedy of 2020 at Baghjan. [2] [3]

Plot

A prosperous oil and gas field surrounds the little village where fisherman Manab and his wife Bharabi reside. One day, while extracting oil, a huge explosion occurs, setting the entire community ablaze. The fire claims Bharabi's life. Manab cannot handle it. In the fire, he believes that his wife is still alive and is attempting to communicate with her. [3]

Baghjan is an Indo-German co-production film. It has been made by MAYAMARA art & culture in Baghjan, Tinsukia district, Assam. [1] [3]

Conflict

On May 22, 2022, Dohutia voiced his disagreement with the State government's intention to send four people from the film business, including bureaucrats, to the Cannes Film Festival. He declared his intention to go to the festival to represent and promote the movie. In order for Dohutia and his crew to represent their film and the state in France, he also asked that the state government pay for their travel costs. [14]

Assamese cinema is the Indian film industry of Assamese language. It is based in Assam, India. The industry was born in 1935 when Jyoti Prasad Agarwala released his movie Joymoti. Since then the Assamese cinema has developed a slow-paced, sensitive style. In the beginning the industry were called Jollywood, for Agarwala's Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio.

Bhabendra Nath Saikia was a novelist, short-story writer, editor and film director from Assam, India. Dr. Saikia received his doctorate in physics from the University of London. He began his career as a reader in the Department of Physics, University of Guwahati. He later played an important role in the publication of college level textbooks in the Assamese language during his tenure as the Secretary of the Co-ordination Committee for production of textbooks in regional languages.

Jolpan, or snacks, are often served at breakfast in the cuisine of Assam, although they may also be served at Bihu festivals or weddings. The word jolpan includes all the preparations namely jolpan, pitha, laru and tea. Other common items served for breakfast may include roti, luchi, ghugni and sometimes paratha etc. Jolpan are also found in Bengal. The word literally derives from "water and betel leaf" but can mean any snack.

Baandhon is a 2012 Assamese language drama film, starring Bishnu Kharghoria and Bina Patangia in the lead roles. The film was directed by Jahnu Barua and produced by Assam State Film Corporation Limited. The film was initially released on 26 October 2012 in the state of Assam and later on 5 July 2013 in selected PVR theaters across rest of India.

Haanduk is an Assamese/Moran language film directed, written, and produced by debut independent filmmaker Jaicheng Jai Dohutia and produced by Mayamara Productions. The movie is allegedly based on real news stories and incidences of radical militarization in Northeast India. The movie stars first time, non-professional actors Bandoi Chetia, Bishal Anurag, Nivedita Baruah, and Jitu Moran. Biswajeet Bora is an Internationally acclaimed National award winning Indian film director, producer, writer, and editor based in Mumbai. His directorial debut was in 2015 with Aisa Yeh Jahaan, India's first movie to be carbon neutral during production. His film God on the Balcony (2020) won nine awards, including the Royal Bengal Tiger Trophy for Best Director at the 26th Kolkata International Film Festival and the German Star at the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart. The 2020 Assam gas and oil leak, also referred as the Baghjan gas leak, was a blowout and methane leak that happened in Oil India Limited's Baghjan Oilfield in Tinsukia district, Assam, India on 27 May 2020. The blowout occurred at Well No. 5 in the Baghjan Oil Field, resulting in a leak of natural gas. The leaking well subsequently caught fire on 9 June 2020, and resulted in three deaths (Officially), large-scale local evacuations, and environmental damage to the nearby Dibru-Saikhowa National Park and Maguri-Motapung Wetland.

Baghjan Gaon is a village under the Doom Dooma subdivision of the Tinsukia district in Assam, India. As per the 2011 Census of India, Baghjan Gaon has a total population of 4,488 people including 2,244 males and 2,244 females.

Jaicheng Xai Dohutia is an Indian film director, editor, writer and cinematographer from Tongana Gaon, a small, isolated village in Tinsukia district, Assam. He is an alumnus of Jyoti Chitraban Film & Television Institute, Guwahati currently known as Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute.

Boomba Ride is an Assamese film directed by Biswajeet Bora. It is written by Biswajeet Bora and Lopamudra Gogoi. The film is about a lower elementary school where Boomba is the only pupil, and the instructors' major issue is to keep the school open.

1962 My Country Land is an Indian English-language film directed and written by filmmaker Chow Partha Borgohain in 2016 and produced by Living Dreams Films Productions. The film is about the border dispute, how two nations consider reconciliation based on the 1962 Sino-Indian War.
