Bako Christine Abia (born 29 June 1977) is a Ugandan politician and she was the Arua District woman Member of Parliament in the eighth and ninth Parliament of Uganda. [1] She belongs to the Forum for Democratic Change political party.
She was the Member of Parliament in the ninth Parliament of Uganda. [2] [3] [4] [5] In 2010, she exchanged words with the Minister for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Tarsis Kabwegyere at the commissioning of the refurbished Arua Hospital Out Patient's Ward over limited supply of medicines. [6] As a result of the elections for the tenth Parliament of Uganda, a group of MPs from West Nile and other parts of Northern Uganda were joined by the State Minister of Internal Affairs to celebrate former Terego County MP, Kasiano Wadri Ezati's failure to join the tenth Parliament. [7] She was among the Members of Parliament who didn't make it to the tenth Parliament. [7] Other MPs, who similarly didn't go back to the tenth Parliament were; the former Arua Woman representative in Parliament, Alex Onzima, the former State Minister for Local government and FDC – NRM leaning Maracha MP, Sam Okuonzi (Vurra), Martin Drito (Madi Okollo), Ahmed Awongo (Koboko), Ruth Lematia (Maracha Woman), Noah Acile (Yumbe), Christine Acayo (Nebbi Woman), Hudah Oleru (Yumbe Woman) and Ann Awuru (Moyo Woman) etc., [7]
In 2010, Christine fought with the Local Council 5 chairman, Richard Andama Ferua during council meeting that was held in Arua municipality to address the wrangles between the municipal law enforcement officers and illegal vendors who were accused of beating up law enforcement officers with metal bars on the orders of the resident district commissioner, Ibrahim Abiriga. [8] While at the ninth Parliament, she was mentioned among the 34 who have spoken less than five times, and of which 29 of them belong to the ruling National Resistance Movement party. [9] She is the National Treasurer for Alliance for National Transformation. [10]
Arua District is a district in the Northern Region of Uganda. Like many Ugandan districts, it too shares its name with its administrative center of Arua. The name Arua is said to be derived from the Lugbara name for prison (Arujo) and prisoner (Aru), since the white settlers had a detention center at Arua Hill.
Maracha District is a district in the West Nile sub-region, in the Northern Region of Uganda. It was formed in 2006 from Arua District.
Kassiano Ezati Wadri is a Ugandan social worker and politician. He is the incumbent independent Member of Parliament, representing Arua Municipality in the 10th Parliament, effective 29 August 2018. The seat fell vacant when Ibrahim Abiriga of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), was assassinated in June 2018.

Mourine Osoru is a Ugandan accountant and legislator who as of February 2022 serves as the elected woman representative for Arua City in Uganda's eleventh parliament. She held the same position in Uganda's tenth parliament Politically, she is affiliated to the affiliated to the National Resistance Movement under whose ticket she contested in the 2016 general election, achieving victory over Christine Bako Abia.

Rose Lilly Akello is a Ugandan politician and social worker representing Karenga District as the district woman member of parliament in the eleventh parliament of Uganda. In the ninth and tenth parliament, she served as the district woman member of parliament representing Kaabong District. Rose opted to represent Karenga District instead of Kaabong district because Karenga was carved out of Kaabong on 1 July 2019. She became the Kaabong District Woman MP after winning a by-election in 2017 against Ms Christine Tubo Nakwang. She is affiliated to the ruling political party, NRM.
