Ballymoney was a local government district with borough status in Northern Ireland. It was headquartered in Ballymoney. Other towns in the borough included Dervock, Dunloy, Cloughmills and Rasharkin. The borough had a population of 31,224 according to the 2011 census.

Angela Platt is a former Ireland women's field hockey international goalkeeper. Between 2000 and 2006 she made 75 senior appearances for Ireland. She represented Ireland at the 2002 Women's Hockey World Cup. She is also a former Northern Ireland women's football international goalkeeper. Between 2010 and 2017 she served as executive manager of the Ulster Hockey Union. In 2017 she was appointed general manager of the Northern Cricket Union.

Robert Mervyn Storey, usually known as Mervyn Storey, is a Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) politician, serving as a Causeway Coast and Glens Councillor for the Ballymoney DEA since 2022. Storey previously served in the Northern Ireland Executive, where he was Minister for Social Development from 2014 to 2016, and then Minister for Finance between January and March 2016. He was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for North Antrim from 2003 to 2022.

The 2010 Northern Ireland Youth Soccer Tournament was the 2010 edition of a prestigious youth association football tournament that has been running annually since 1983. Teams from around the world competed in a week-long tournament in the North Coast area of Northern Ireland. The 2010 Milk Cup Tournament ran between the 26 and 30 July 2010, with Northern Ireland (Elite), Manchester United (Premier) and Everton (Junior) all returning to defend their 2009 titles.
Ballymoney Borough Council was the local authority of Ballymoney in Northern Ireland. Originally formed in the 1970s, the council ceased to operate as a separate entity in 2015 when it was combined with other local authorities to form the Causeway Coast and Glens District Council.

Malachy Carey was a volunteer in the Provisional Irish Republican Army and a Sinn Féin candidate in local government elections. He was born in Loughgiel, County Antrim in 1956 to an old County Antrim family. He was assassinated by Loyalist paramilitaries in Ballymoney, County Antrim. on 12 December 1992. His death was reported in Republican newspaper An Phoblacht. A Sinn Féin Cumann has been named in his honour.
Hamilton Brown was an Irish-born planter and politician who resided in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, which he represented in the House of Assembly of Jamaica for 22 years. Brown founded the settlement of Hamilton Town in Saint Ann Parish, which was named after him.
The British Isles Bowls Championships is a tournament held between the champions of their respective nations, from England, Scotland, Wales, a combined Ireland, and more recently Guernsey and Jersey. It was first held in 1960 although the triples event did not start until 1977.
