The Balochistan Forests & Wildlife Department is a government agency in Pakistan that oversees the conservation and management of forests, national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, and game reserves within the province of Balochistan. [1]

Background

The department has been in existence for over 100 years. It was originally established during British Colonial Rule and later operated under the West Pakistan Forest Service. In the 1970s, it became a separate provincial department. [2]

Structure

The department falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Forests and Wildlife and is led by a Provincial Secretary Forest and Wildlife. It is divided into several divisions, each headed by a Conservator of Forests. These divisions include Khuzdar Division, Nasirabad Division, Turbat Division, Loralai Division, Sibi Division, and Civil Division Quetta. [3]

The main tribes of this district are: Hanbhi, Jamali, Umrani, Khoso, Bulledi, Magsi, Babbar, and Behrani, while internally displaced people of Bugti tribes also live in Jafarabad. Other minority communities are Gola, Lashari, and Domki. Recently in 2022 part of it was split off to form the new district of Usta Muhammad.

Jhal Magsi District is a district in central Balochistan in Pakistan. Previously part of Kachhi District, it was established as a district of its own in December 1991 and after a brief period in which it was known as Kachhi, its name was changed to Jhal Magsi in May 1992. The district is named after the town of Jhal, seat of the Magsi tribe, the major tribes within the district are Magsi, Lashari and jamote. Historically, the Magsi tribe is Samma tribe.

Syed Muhammad Agha Raza is a Pakistani politician who was a Member of the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan, from May 2013 to May 2018.

Mir Zia Langau is a Pakistani politician who is the current Provincial Minister of the Balochistan for Forest and Wildlife, in office since 30 August 2018. He has been a member of Provincial Assembly of the Balochistan since August 2018.

The Pakistan Levies, or Federal Levies, are provincial paramilitary forces (gendarmeries) in Pakistan, whose primary missions are law enforcement, assisting the civilian police in maintaining law and order, and conducting internal security operations at the provincial level. The various Levies Forces operate under separate chains of command and wear distinct patches and badges.
