Bangin' on Wax is the debut album by American hip hop group Bloods & Crips. The album was released in 1993 by Dangerous Records. Bangin' on Wax peaked at No. 86 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Four singles were released: "Bangin' on Wax", "Piru Love", "Crip, Crip, Crip", and "Steady Dippin'". Music videos were made for "Bangin' on Wax", "Piru Love" and "Steady Dippin'". The album was produced by Ronnie Ron, DJ Battlecat, Big Qluso, Siilski, Tweedy Bird Loc, and J. Stank.

Bloods & Crips was an American gangsta rap group from Los Angeles County mostly known for their record selling song "Piru Love".

Shawn Antoine Ivy, known as Domino,, is an American rapper. Being a Crip himself, he auditioned for the Bloods & Crips project in the early 1990s. He is the first rapper, in order of appearance, in the title track Bangin' on Wax on the album of the same name. His debut album, Domino, spawned two major hits in the United States, including the Top 10 hit "Getto Jam", which reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. Several further albums were released, and Domino continued to score hits on the R&B charts into the 2000s (decade).

The Cypress Village housing projects are a series of housing complexes stretching from 10th Street to 14th Street and Kirkham Way. Cypress is located in between the Acorn neighborhood and Lower Bottoms neighborhood in West Oakland. Cypress Village is one of the three housing projects in West Oakland, along with the Campbell Village Court and the Acorn Projects.

RedruM 781 was an American rapper from Inglewood, California. RedruM 781, Tweedy Bird Loc and producer Ronnie Phillips organized hip hop project Bloods & Crips, collaboration between Bloods and Crips members. He is a Piru gang member himself. redruM 781 is also known for his key role on "Bangin' on Wax", he and his fellow female MC Bloody Mary were the two key players for getting this particular Bangin' on Wax project off the ground. He was the cousin of the rapper Kurupt, with whom they had a long-time beef.

Colors: Bangin' in South Carolina is a 2014 documentary film directed by Terry Davis. The documentary explores the gang epidemic that plagued the state's capital city, Columbia for years. The film details the 15-year gang feud between the Crips, Bloods, and Gangster Disciples. In 2014, the documentary was presented with the Film Heals award at the Manhattan Film Festival at the Quad City Cinema in New York City.
