Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation is the national federation for Kabaddi and is responsible for governing the sport in Bangladesh. [1] [2] Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion, is the President of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation [3] and General secretary is Addl. IGP of Bangladesh Police Habibur Rahman. [4] [5] [6] [7] DIG of police Mozammel Haque is the joint secretary of the current committee. [8]

History

Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation was established in 1973 as the Bangladesh Amateur Kabadi Federation. It held the first international match against India in 1974, during which the Bangladesh team was coached by Sheikh Shaheb Ali. In 1978, it joined the Asian Amateur Kabadi Federation as a founding member. The 1990 Asian Games were the first to have Kabaddi in them. Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation organizes the National Kabadi Competition. [9]

Kabaddi is a contact team sport played between two teams of seven players, originating in ancient India The objective of the game is for a single player on offence, referred to as a "raider", to run into the opposing team's half of the court, touch out as many of their players as possible, and return to their own half of the court, all without being tackled by the defenders in 30 seconds. Points are scored for each player tagged by the raider, while the opposing team earns a point for stopping the raider. Muhammad Habibur Rahman was a Chief Justice of Bangladesh Supreme Court in 1995. He was the Chief Adviser of the 1996 caretaker government which oversaw the Seventh parliamentary elections in Bangladesh. He was a faculty member at the Department of Law, University of Rajshahi and University of Dhaka. Besides, being a language activist, advocate of the Bengali language, he wrote extensively and published eight books on the subject. He played a significant role to implement Bengali in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He wrote Jathashabdo (1974), the first thesaurus in the Bengali language.

India has taken part in four Asian Games in kabaddi, and won gold in all of them. Four forms of kabaddi played in India are Amar, Suranjeevi, huttuttoo, and Gaminee. Amar is generally played in Punjab, Haryana, the United States, Canada, and other parts of the world, mostly by Punjabi sportsmen. Suranjeevi is the most played form of kabaddi in India and the world. This is the form used in international matches generally and played in Asian Games. Huttuttoo was played by men in Maharashtra. In Gaminee style, seven players play on each side and a player put out has to remain out until all his team members are out. National Sports Awards are given by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Bangladesh for specific contributions in the field of games and sports. The award was introduced in 1976. As of 2011, total 175 sports personalities won the award.

The Kabaddi Federation of Uganda (KFU) is the governing body of Kabaddi in Uganda.Kabaddi, is a contact sport, native to the Indian subcontinent. The Kabaddi Federation of Uganda was founded in 2017 and its affiliated to International Kabaddi Federation since 2017. It organises both the men as well the women's national Kabaddi team and organises the Uganda Kabaddi League.

Habibur Rahman Sohag is a retired Bangladeshi professional footballer. He represented the Bangladesh national team in 2021. A versatile player, Sohag played in multiple roles, including central midfielder and attacking midfielder, towards the end of his career he played as a centre-back or defensive midfielder.
