Barahu Railway Station (Station Code: BRHU) [1] is an important railway station located in the Morigaon district of Assam, India. It is part of the Northeast Frontier Railway zone of Indian Railways, serving as a crucial junction for regional connectivity. [2]

The station offers some amenities for passengers, such as ticket counters and parking. While it features a single number of platform. [3]

Trains

The trains named 55604/Mairabari-Guwahati Kolongpar Passenger and 55603/Guwahati-Mairabari Kolongpar Passenger are the only trains that stop at the station. [4] [5]

Incident

On January 24, 2013, an express train driver spotted a foodgrain-loaded goods train ahead on the track near Barahu railway station and applied emergency brakes, causing a delay of over two hours before the express resumed its journey to Dibrugarh. [6]

Later on November 7, 2024, Guwahati-bound Kolongpar passenger train was stranded near Barahu railway station due to a technical snag, affecting around 1,000 passengers. Indian Railways officials provided food and water and worked to resolve the issue, which led to a delay of several hours. [7]

The Cachar Express was a daily Indian Railways metre-gauge overnight express train from Lumding Junction to Silchar and vice versa, both stations are situated in the Indian state of Assam. The train was numbered as 15691 and 15692 respectively. The train service is suspended now as the route in which it used to run is now converted from metre gauge to broad gauge.
