The Northeast Frontier Railway is one of the 19 railway zones of the Indian Railways. It is headquartered in Maligaon, Guwahati in the state of Assam, and responsible for operation and expansion of rail network all across Northeastern states and some districts of eastern Bihar and northern West Bengal.
New Jalpaiguri Junction railway station established in 1960, is an A1 category broad-gauge and narrow-gauge railway station under Katihar railway division of Northeast Frontier Railway zone. The 12505 / 12506 North East Superfast Express is a Daily Superfast Express train of Indian Railways that runs between Kamakhya Junction in Guwahati, Assam and Anand Vihar Terminal near New Delhi, connecting northeastern India to New Delhi. The train belongs to the Northeast Frontier Railway zone of Indian Railways, while the coaches belong to the Kamakhya coaching depot of the Lumding railway division.
Kamrup Express is a daily Express train which connects Kolkata, the capital of the state of West Bengal with Dibrugarh, a major tea manufacturing town in upper Assam. The name Kamrup is derived from the Kamrup district, one of the 35 administrative regions of the State of Assam. The Cachar Express was a daily Indian Railways metre-gauge overnight express train from Lumding Junction to Silchar and vice versa, both stations are situated in the Indian state of Assam. The train was numbered as 15691 and 15692 respectively. The train service is suspended now as the route in which it used to run is now converted from metre gauge to broad gauge.

It is the terminal station in Baraigram Jn - Dullabchera spur line of Lumding–Sabroom section and is the last railway line under Northeast Frontier Railway zone to complete gauge conversion.
Harischandrapur railway station is an important railway station on the Howrah–New Jalpaiguri line of Katihar railway division of Northeast Frontier Railway Zone. It is situated beside National Highway 81 at Harischandrapur of Malda district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Aluabari Road Junction railway station is a junction railway station on Katihar–Siliguri branch of Howrah–New Jalpaiguri line in the Katihar railway division of Northeast Frontier Railway zone. It is situated beside National Highway 27 (India) at Islampur of Uttar Dinajpur district in the Indian state of West Bengal. This railway station connects the Alubari–Siliguri branch line and New Farakka–New Jalpaiguri line. Total 35 express and passenger trains stop at Aluabari Road Junction railway station in a day.
