Navin Nischol was an Indian actor. He made his debut with the Hindi film Sawan Bhadon in 1970. In 1996 he worked in Pyar Zindagi Hai along with Rita Bhaduri and Raj Mohammed. The film was shot in Hyderabad.
Parwana is a 1971 Indian Hindi-language psychological thriller film directed by Jyoti Swaroop. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Navin Nischol, Yogeeta Bali, Om Prakash in lead roles and Shatrughan Sinha in a special appearance. In this film, Bachchan plays his first negative role as an infatuated lover-turned-murderer.
Victoria No. 203 is a 1972 Indian Hindi-language heist comedy film produced and directed by Brij. The film stars Saira Banu, Navin Nischol, Ranjeet, Anwar Hussain and Helen. Ashok Kumar and Pran play key supporting roles and earned the Filmfare nominations for the film. The music by Kalyanji–Anandji and the roles of Ashok Kumar and Pran made this a "superhit" at the box office. The movie was remade in Telugu in 1974 as Andaru Dongale starring Shobhan Babu and Laxmi and in Tamil in 1974 as Vairam starring Jaishankar and Jayalalithaa. The 1995 Kannada movie Giddu Dada was also inspired by this movie. It was also remade in Bengali in 2005 as Chore Chore Mastuto Bhai. A Hindi remake of the film produced by Brij's son Kamal Sadanah was released in August 2007 with the same title. The climax of this movie went on to be reused in the 1994 cult classic comedy Andaz Apna Apna. Priyadarshan scripted Malayalam film Samrambham is also its remake.

The film has music composed by Madan Mohan and lyrics written by Kaifi Azmi. This movie features the unforgettable evergreen songs by Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar under music direction of Madan Mohan, which turned out to be chartbusters. The most famous song in this film is "Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho". The other song is a qawwali, "Yeh Mana Meri Jaan" whose tune has been remade numerous times. Madan Mohan produced one of the best works of his life for this feature film. "Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho" was adjudged the third best hindi film song ever by a jury of eminent musicians for an Outlook magazine poll. The song is still a rage among youngsters and lovebirds. This movie collected Rs.72000 at capital cinema, which was a record back then and was declared a hit at the box office.

Subsequently, spurred on by this success, Basu was even planning to remake the film in English, though he died in June 1997, at the age 62. The film's success was described as blurring the gap between Indian art and commercial cinema, where art film makers, dealing with serious issues, used a musical format to make the film more commercially appealing, thus reaching a wider audience. Rekha received a nomination of 1997 Star Screen Award for Best Actress.
