Baron Wittard: Nemesis of Ragnarok is an adventure video game developed by two-person team Wax Lyrical Games, and published by Iceberg Interactive. It was released in Europe and the US on 18 February 2011.
Set in a mysterious utopian city that has been abandoned, the player takes on the role of an anonymous urban photographer who becomes trapped at the center of a battle between good and evil at the time of Ragnarök.
Baron Wittard is the premiere title of Wax Lyrical Games, [2] created by the two-person team consisting of Marlies Maalderink (in the Netherlands) and me Alan Thorn in the UK. [3] Video game writer and designer Thorn 's design philosophy was to create an "enchanting and enthralling" opportunity for players to explore the ancient ruins of a rich history. [4] Commencing in December 2010, the developers published a developer diary for their upcoming game. It was hosted on Just Adventure, while German and Dutch translations were listed at Adventure-Treff.de and Adventure-Island.nl respectively. [5] On February 18, 2011, the game was made available in retail stores in the UK, Scandinavian and Benelux territories. [6]
Adventure Gamers thought the game's lackluster gameplay was counteracted by its haunting atmosphere. [7] Just Adventure praised it as intelligent, challenging, and atmospheric. [8] Gry Online praised the game's symphonic soundtrack. [9] GameZone.de thought the graphics came across as a bit old-fashioned for the time. [10]
Die Hard Game Fan listed the title as one of the "Ten Indie Games to Look For in 2011". [11]
The Game Developers Choice Awards are awards annually presented at the Game Developers Conference for outstanding game developers and games. Introduced in 2001, the Game Developers Choice Awards were preceded by the Spotlight Awards, which were presented from 1997 to 1999. Insaniquarium is a 2001 virtual pets simulator video game, developed by Flying Bear Entertainment and published by PopCap Games and MumboJumbo. The company was formerly known as Just Games Interactive, which developed Mortal Kombat: Unchained and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, and worked on UFC Undisputed 2009. Kung Fu Factory is the first third party developer to have worked on a Mortal Kombat game. Yume Nikki is a 2004 adventure game created by pseudonymous Japanese developer Kikiyama. The player controls a girl named Madotsuki and explores her dreams, collecting 24 effects that change her appearance and equipment. Random events also occur throughout the game in the form of cutscenes and unique gameplay sequences. The game was developed using RPG Maker 2003 without a traditional plot or battle system. Gameplay instead focuses on exploration of the dream world.
Lost Echo is a point-and-click adventure developed and published by KickBack Studios for iOS, Android and Windows Phone. It was released on September 27, 2013, for iOS. Later it was also released for Windows Phone and Android on June 18, 2014, and November 11, 2015, respectively. The game has gained a cult following. On February 9, 2019, and February 19, 2019, the developers updated the game with a complete remaster of the game for iOS and Android respectively. The developer, KickBack, is currently developing a sequel, entitled Lost Echo: Resonance.
Versus Evil LLC was an American video game publisher founded by former ZeniMax Online Studios marketing director Steve Escalante to focus on the independent video game market. Versus Evil was bought by another publisher, tinyBuild, in November 2021. In December 2023, all Versus Evil staff were laid off, days before Christmas.
Infamous Quests is an independent video game developer, known for developing adventure games. It was founded in 2012 by Steven Alexander and Shawn Mills who previously founded Infamous Adventures, an amateur game development company that remade old Sierra Entertainment adventure games of the early 1990s. The two chose to form Infamous Quests in order to separate it from their free fan-remake development company and in 2012 they announced Quest for Infamy, an adventure RPG made with Adventure Game Studio where the player assumes the role of the morally gray William Roehm. The developers raised $63,281 on Kickstarter to produce Quest For Infamy, and in June 2014 the game made Time Magazine's 20 Video Games To Watch for Summer 2014 list.
Nemesis: The Wizardry Adventure is a 1996 adventure and role-playing video game developed and published by Sir-Tech. It is a spin-off of the Wizardry series of games. Ports for Sega Saturn and Microsoft Windows were released in Japan in 1998.
Conarium is a Lovecraftian horror adventure video game, inspired by H. P. Lovecraft's novella At the Mountains of Madness. The game was developed by Turkish game development studio Zoetrope Interactive, published by Dutch indie game publisher Iceberg Interactive, and was first released for Microsoft Windows in June 2017. It was subsequently ported to Linux and macOS in 2018, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2019, and the Nintendo Switch in 2021.
God of War Ragnarök is an action-adventure game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, marking the first cross-gen release in the God of War series. It is the ninth installment in the series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018's God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game is set in ancient Scandinavia and features series protagonist, Kratos, and his now teenage son, Atreus. Concluding the Norse era of the series, the game covers Ragnarök, the eschatological event which is central to Norse mythology and was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Aesir god Baldur.
Sarah Horn Elmaleh is an American voice actor. Elmaleh is known for her work in the indie video games Gone Home (2013) and Where the Water Tastes Like Wine (2018) and AAA titles such as Final Fantasy XV (2016), For Honor (2017), Anthem (2019) and Hi-Fi Rush (2023). She became involved with the SAG-AFTRA union after she moved from New York City to Los Angeles in 2015. In 2019, she founded the multilingual, online games conference gamedev.world with game developer Rami Ismail.
