Biography

After attending high school in Sidney, Montana, [2] he studied at Northwestern University’s [3] Medill School of Journalism. [4] [5]

Petersen wrote about his wife's diagnosis with early onset of Alzheimer's disease in 2005, in a work entitled "Jan's Story", [6] which was published in June 2010. [1] [7]

Jan was also a CBS News journalist, [1] reporting from both Japan and the former Soviet Union for CBS News Radio, CBS News Sunday Morning, and the CBS Weekend News. [8]

Wells Award from the National Association of Black Journalists, as well as the Distinguished Service to Journalism History Award from the American Journalism Historians Association. In 2001 he decided to focus his career around education, working as a professor for universities such as Emory University, University of Central Florida, and Northwestern University.
