Mallakastër is a region and a municipality in Fier County, southwestern Albania. It was created in 2015 by the merger of the present municipalities Aranitas, Ballsh, Fratar, Greshicë, Hekal, Kutë, Ngraçan, Qendër Dukas and Selitë. The seat of the municipality is the town Ballsh. The total population is 27,062, in a total area of 329.19 km2. It is coterminous with the former Mallakastër District.
Mallakastër District was one of the thirty-six districts of Albania and is now part of Fier County. It had a population of 31,356, and an area of 393 km². It is in the south of the country, and its capital was Ballsh.

After Rezart Dabulla opened the scoring with a header after 42 minutes, Devis Mema equalised in the 65th minute before Hair Zeqiri scored the winner on the 92nd minutes to give Flamurtari their third Albanian Cup success.
Ballsh-Hekal oil field is an Albanian oil field that was discovered in 1967. It is a big on-shore oil field in Albania. Its proven reserves are about 135 million barrels. The Ballsh-Hekal oil field is located 30 kilometres (19 mi) south east of the city of Fier in south central Albania. It produces about 550 barrels per day (87 m3/d).
Adush Muça Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Ballsh, Albania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of KS Bylis Ballsh. The stadium has a capacity of 5,200 people.
