The 2011 edition of the women's basketball tournament of the African Games was the 10th, organized by FIBA Africa and played under the auspices of FIBA, the basketball sport governing body. The tournament was held from 9 to 17 September 2011 in Maputo, Mozambique, contested by 10 national teams and won by Nigeria.

The 2010 FIBA Africa Under-18 Championship for Men was the 17th FIBA Africa Under-18 Championship for Men, organized by FIBA Africa and played under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Basketball, the basketball sport governing body and the African zone thereof. The tournament was held from October 8–17 in Rwanda and won by Egypt.

The 2008 FIBA Africa Women's Clubs Champions Cup, was an international basketball tournament held in Nairobi, Kenya, from November 20 to 29, 2008. The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa and hosted by Kenya Ports Authority, was contested by 12 clubs split into 2 groups of 6, the first four of which qualifying for the knock-out stage.

The 2017 FIBA Africa Women's Clubs Champions Cup, was an international basketball tournament that took place at the Pavilhão Multiusos do Kilamba, in Luanda, Angola, from November 11 to 19, 2017. The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa and hosted by Grupo Desportivo Interclube, was contested by 9 teams split into 2 groups, the first four of each group qualifying for the knock-out stage.

The 2022 FIBA Africa Women's Champions Cup will be the 26th season of the FIBA Africa Women's Clubs Champions Cup, the top tier basketball league for women's teams in Africa. The tournament began on December 9 and will end on December 17, 2022, and will be entirely hosted in the Eduardo Mondlane University Gym in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. It is the third time Maputo hosts the league after 2016 and 2018. The league returns after a 2-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
