The film has a 13% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on eight reviews. [3] Gary Goldstein of the Los Angeles Times gave the film a negative review and wrote, "Given writer-director Danny Buday’s apparent concern for the emotional and physical plight of returning veterans, this combo-plate approach feels especially off-base." [4] Frank Scheck of The Hollywood Reporter gave the film a negative review and wrote, "Featuring that most hackneyed of settings, a strip club, Battle Scars is neither sensitive nor gripping enough to be taken seriously." [5] Bobby LePire of Film Threat graded the film a D+. [6]
