The Battle of Kandarpi Ghat occurred between the Nawab of Bengal and Raj Darbhanga in October 1753. [1] One such invasion, when Raj Darbhanga was governed by Maharaja Narendra Singh, was led by the Mughal Bengal Subah of Alivardi Khan. [2] [3]
A Vijaya Stambh i.e.,a victory pillar has been erected and constructed to commemorate this event by the efforts of Dr. Rangnath Diwaker in Kandarpi Ghat, Mahrail, Mithila. [4]
Darbhanga is the fifth largest city and municipal corporation in the state of Bihar in India, and is considered an important city in North Bihar. It serves as the headquarters of the Darbhanga district and the Darbhanga division. It is held that the name Darbhanga has been derived from Dwar Banga or Dari – Banga, meaning the 'door of Bengal'.

Mirza RajaMan Singh I was the 24th Maharaja of Amber from 1589 to 1614. He also served as the Subahdar of Bengal for three terms from 1595 to 1606 and the Subahdar of Kabul from 1585 to 1586. He served in the Imperial Mughal Army under Emperor Akbar. Man Singh fought sixty-seven important battles in Kabul, Balkh, Bukhara, Bengal and Central and Southern India. He was well versed in the battle tactics of both the Rajputs as well as the Mughals. He is commonly considered to be of the Navaratnas, or the nine (nava) gems (ratna) of the royal court of Akbar.

Maharajadhiraj Sir Kameshwar Singh Goutam Bahadur, K.C.I.E. was the Maharaja of Darbhanga. He held his title over his family estates in the Mithila region from 1929 – 1952, when such titles were abolished following the Independence of India. He had a sister named Lakshmi Daiji.
The Oiniwar dynasty, or Aainwar dynasty also known as the Sugauna dynasty, was a Maithil ruling dynasty of territories that form part of the Mithila region of the Indian subcontinent. They governed the area between 1325 and 1526, being preceded by the Karnat dynasty. Following the demise of the dynasty, emerged the dynasty of the Raj Darbhanga. One of the Oiniwar Dynasty's most notable brave ruler and fighter was Shiva Simha Singh.
Kharagpur Raj was a prominent chieftaincy, founded in the early 16th century in Bihar situated mainly in modern-day Munger district. They were notable for being one of the few chieftaincies in Bihar to convert to Islam and many of the rulers became firm allies of the Mughal authorities. At its peak, the Kharagpur Raj encompassed parts of the modern-day districts of Munger, Bhagalpur, Jamui, Lakhisarai, Godda and Deoghar. Due to its size, the Privy Council compared it with the Kingdom of Sardinia.
Dumraon Raj was a medieval chieftaincy and later a zamindari estate in erstwhile Shahabad district of Bihar. The total area under this zamindari was 4,85,000 acres which is equivalent to 1963 Square Kilometer.
The Zamindars of Bihar were the autonomous and semi-autonomous rulers and administrators of the Mughal subah of Bihar and later during British rule. The zamindars of Bihar were numerous and could be divided into small, medium and large depending on how much land they controlled. Within Bihar, the zamindars had both economic and military power. Each zamindari would have their own standing army which was typically composed of their own clansmen.
Puran Mal was king of Gidhaur in the 16th century. He was contemporary of Mughal Emperor Akbar. According to legend, he restored Baidyanath Temple of Deoghar.
Maharaja Narendra Singh was the Maharaja and principal landowner of Darbhanga in the Mithila region, presently in the state of Bihar, India. He belonged to the Khandavala Rajavansh of Raj Darbhanga. He is famous for his role in the Battle of Kandarpi Ghat in 1753 against the Mughal Bengal Subah of the then ruling Alivardi Khan, Nawab of Bengal.
