Battle of Santiago is a Canadian Afro-Cuban post-rock band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada formed in 2011.
The group is led by Michael Owen (bass player and producer) and has a rotating cast of musicians, with mainstays Reimundo Sosa (percussion and vocals), Lyle Crilly (guitar and synth), Michael Butler (saxophone and flute), and Anthony Daniel (drums), as well as many other supporting musicians.
In 2012, the band's debut album Full Colour was released under their label. Made With Pencil Crayons. [1] The album became the #1 hit on the weekly Canadian college radio charts for International music [2] and stayed in the national Top 20 charts for 4 months. [3] [4] [5] [6] Also, the release reached #1 in a few local markets in Canada, including Guelph and Calgary, also reaching #3 on the Jazz charts on CFRU in Guelph, Ontario. Additionally, this release was selected for CJSR Edmonton's best of 2012 list and reached #13 on Earshot's Top 20 for 2012 on the International music charts. [7]
In 2013, Battle of Santiago released their second album Followed by Thousands. [8] The album became the #1 hit on the weekly Canadian college radio charts for International music on CJSR in Edmonton, [9] holding #5 for two months on the top 20 Earshot charts for International music in late 2012. [10] [11] This release has also hit the charts in the United States reaching #18 on KALX with tracks featured on Latino USA.
Also in 2013, the band was nominated for a SiriusXM Indie Award for World Music Artist of the year. [12] The Knoxville News Sentinel concluded "even if Followed by Thousands fails to sustain keen interest, its mild appeal is consistent", [13] and the group has received coverage from a variety of media outlets. Battle of Santiago has opened for artists like Cadence Weapon, Saul Williams, and Femi Kuti. [25] [26] The band has performed at the Hillside Festival, [27] Canadian Music Week, NXNE, OCFF, Mundial Montreal, Le Festival Musique Multi-Montréal, the Harrison Festival for the Arts, the Small World Music Festival and the Northern Lights Festival Boréal. [28] At the latter festival, they debuted their fourth album, Queen & Judgement, which was released at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic. [29]

Repeat – The Best of Jethro Tull – Vol II is a 1977 greatest hits album from Jethro Tull, featuring one track which, up to the time of this album's release, had not been issued. The album's first volume was M.U. – The Best of Jethro Tull.
Spirit of the Boogie is the sixth studio album by Kool & the Gang, released in 1975. It can be seen as a follow-up to Wild and Peaceful (1973); the instrumental "Jungle Jazz" uses the same basic rhythm track heard in "Jungle Boogie", but lets the players improvise on their instruments. References to earlier works can be noticed. "Spirit of the Boogie" features Donald Boyce, who was rapping on "Jungle Boogie". Some African influence can be felt, and the band even play in a West-Indian style on "Caribbean Festival", another instrumental track, with once more much room for improvisation.
Shakatak is an English jazz-funk band founded in 1980 by Nigel Wright and former Wigan Casino DJ Kev Roberts. Following an initial white label release, "Steppin", the band's name was derived from a record store in Soho, London Record Shack. It was they who first showed interest in the initial single.
Caravanserai is the fourth studio album by American rock band Santana, released on October 11, 1972. The album marked a period of transition for Santana as it was the band's last to feature several key early members, while shifting in a more instrumental, progressive jazz fusion direction. It sold in fewer quantities than the band's previous chart-topping albums, stalling at No. 8 on the Billboard LPs chart, but has been critically acclaimed.
Welcome is the fifth studio album by Santana, released in 1973. It followed the jazz-fusion formula that the preceding Caravanserai had inaugurated, but with an expanded and different lineup this time. Gregg Rolie had left the band along with Neal Schon to form Journey, and they were replaced by Tom Coster, Richard Kermode and Leon Thomas, along with guest John McLaughlin, who had collaborated with Carlos Santana on Love Devotion Surrender. Welcome also featured John Coltrane's widow, Alice, as a pianist on the album's opening track, "Going Home" and Flora Purim on vocals. This album was far more experimental than the first four albums, and Welcome did not produce any hit singles.
On the Night is the second live album by the British rock band Dire Straits, released on 10 May 1993 by Vertigo Records internationally, and by Warner Bros. Records in the United States. The album features many of the band's later hits, including the singles "Walk of Life" and "Money for Nothing".

Richard David Carrick is an American composer, pianist and conductor. He was a Guggenheim Fellow in Music Composition for 2015–16 while living in Kigali, Rwanda. His compositions are influenced by diverse sources including traditional Korean Gugak music, the flow concept of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Gnawa Music of Morocco, Jazz, experimental music, concepts of infinity, the works of Italo Calvino and Ludwig Wittgenstein, and his work as improviser.
Blanket Barricade is a Canadian indie rock band (music) founded by Wesley Krauss, with Mary-Lee Neron, pianist Samuel Li, Drummer Steve M., bassist Justin S., and Myles Travitz. The name of the band comes from Wesley's childhood habit of making forts out of blankets. The band's music was described as "multi-layered", "intricate", and "theatrical".
Bodh'aktan is a Canadian traditional music group, based in Quebec, that fuses elements of Irish, Celtic, Québécois, Maritime, and Breton music with hard rock, country, polka, and punk. The name is inspired by a Gaelic term for fishermen's boots, and by the French pronunciation for the famous Acton boots Botte Acton. Many of the members wear kilts during their stage performances.

The concept for the recording came from the idea of a high level feature CD showcasing the Michael Waldrop Big Band. Most notably, music critic Jack Bowers gave the recording 4 and a half of 5 stars and notes, "...Waldrop's first visit to a recording studio with his own big band was worth the wait."
Truck is the debut album by Canadian jazz rock band, Truck. Consisting of original compositions, it was produced by Dennis R. Murphy of Sundog Productions. Released in early 1973 on the Capitol label, it made the Canadian charts and hung around for about a month and a half.
