Beach Sambo competition at the 2016 Asian Beach Games was held in Da Nang, Vietnam from 30 September to 2 October 2016 at Bien Dong Park. [1]
Beach Sambo fights were held only in the standing position in three minutes. Victory was awarded after a throw when the opponent as a result of conducting active action falls on the sand on any part of the body other than the feet.

Sambo is a Russian martial art with Soviet origins, an internationally practiced combat sport, and a recognized style of amateur wrestling included by UWW in the World Wrestling Championships along with Greco-Roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling.
Alexander Vladimirovich Emelianenko is a Russian mixed martial artist. He is a three-time Russian national Combat Sambo champion and three-time world Combat Sambo champion in the absolute division. He is the younger brother of Fedor Emelianenko.
James "Chico" Hernandez is an accomplished athlete in the sport of Sambo. He is the first Sambo champion to be featured on a box of Wheaties Energy Crunch and the first Sambo wrestler to appear in CNN/SI "Faces In the Crowd".
