Selman served as an Oklahoma state senator between 1965 and 1968. During his tenure he principal author of the bills that created Tulsa Junior College.[1] He did not seek re-election in 1968 and was succeeded in office by Jim Inhofe.[3][4] He also worked for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.[1]
He was honored as a Good Steward for Wildlife in February,1999. He was described as having been,"active in wildlife conservation for many years".[5]
