Beautiful Road is the fourth album by the American singer-songwriter Kate Taylor, released in 2003.

Contents

After Taylor's previous album, 1979's It's in There failed to reach the public, Taylor took a break from the music industry for the next two decades, during which time she appeared sporadically as a performer and back-up singer for various artists, not releasing another album until Beautiful Road in 2003.

The album contained new material, not the primarily covers of her previous work. Most songs were written by Taylor's husband and manager, Charlie Witham. Unfortunately, Witham fell ill while the album was being recorded and would die shortly before it was released in April 2003.

The album closes with a version of "Auld Lang Syne", arranged by Taylor's brother James. Taylor covered the song himself the following year as the last song on James Taylor: A Christmas Album (2004).

Rise Up Like the Sun 1978 studio album by The Albion Band

Rise Up Like the Sun is a British folk rock album released in 1978 by The Albion Band. The album is in part a collaboration between John Tams on vocals and melodeon and Ashley Hutchings on electric bass. This is not the first album on which the two worked together but it remains the most fulfilling for listeners. To build the sound Hutchings brought in two of his former compatriots from Fairport Convention, Dave Mattacks on drums and tambourine and Simon Nicol on vocals and electric and acoustic guitars. In addition another ex-member of Fairport, Richard Thompson, contributed songs and backing vocals. Having assembled the principal contributors and an ambiance that encouraged their friends to drop in, Hutchings gave Tams the freedom to act as the project's musical director. They were joined by Philip Pickett on shawms, bagpipes, curtals and trumpet, Pete Bullock on synthesiser, piano, clarinet, sax, and organ, Michael Gregory on percussion, Ric Sanders on violin and violectra and Graeme Taylor on electric and acoustic guitars. Kate McGarrigle, Julie Covington, Linda Thompson, Pat Donaldson, Martin Carthy, Andy Fairweather-Low and Dave Bristow make guest appearances.

Though it received mixed reviews upon its release, the album was yet another commercial success for Harris. It was certified Gold in less than a year after its release. A single release of "Mister Sandman" did well on the charts, though neither Ronstadt's nor Parton's record companies would allow their artists' vocals to be used on the single, so Harris rerecorded the song, singing all three parts for the single release. Kate Taylor also included the B-side of "It's in His Kiss": the self-penned "Jason & Ida", and introduced "Tiah's Cove" — written by Kate Taylor's husband Charlie Witham – and also the Walter Robinson composition "Harriet Tubman": the latter is described by James Taylor biographer Timothy White as "a searing latterday spiritual" which is "the highpoint of Kate's exceptional eleven song set."
