The Bell Island Blues are a senior ice hockey team based in Bell Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, they are currently in their 4th season as part of the Avalon East Senior Hockey League.
In their first season in the St. John's Junior Hockey League in 1996, the team finished third and went on to win the following two seasons. [1]
The team was renamed the CBR Renegades the 2007-2008 season. [1]
The Blues were known as the Bell Island Wave prior to the 2010–11 season.

The St. John's Junior Hockey League is a Junior B ice hockey league in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, sanctioned by Hockey Canada. Founded in 1980, the SJJHL was a recognized Junior A league from 1989 until 1991. This stretch as a Junior A league marks the last time any Newfoundland or Labrador league competed in the Junior A National Playdowns.

The Herder Memorial Trophy, or Herder, is the championship trophy to be awarded annually to the senior ice hockey champions of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The original cast silver trophy was donated in 1935 by The Evening Telegram newspaper on behalf of the Herder family, as a memorial to five brothers who played hockey in St. John's.
Joseph Roche Lundrigan is a Canadian former ice hockey defenceman who played 52 games in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals during the 1972–73 and 1974–75 seasons. He was originally signed in 1971 by the Maple Leafs, and was claimed by the Capitals in the 1974 NHL Expansion Draft. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1967 to 1986, was spent in the minor leagues.
The Oxford University Ice Hockey Club (OUIHC) is home to the Men’s and Women’s Blues ice hockey teams of the University of Oxford, England. The Men's Blues, also known as Oxford University Blues, is one of the world's oldest ice hockey teams. Tradition places the origin of the team in 1885, when a match is said to have been played against Cambridge University Ice Hockey Club in St Moritz, Switzerland. This date is recognised by the Hockey Hall of Fame, and prior to the 1985 Ice Hockey Varsity Match, the International Ice Hockey Federation formally recognised the 1885 game as the first ice hockey match played in Europe. However, there is no contemporary evidence that this match took place, and Oxford now claims that this was a bandy match.
Selm Alexander Faulkner is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey player and was the first National Hockey League (NHL) player from Newfoundland and Labrador. He played in the NHL from 1961 to 1964 with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1952 to 1976, was mainly spent in the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League.
Nicholas Mickoski was a Canadian ice hockey forward. He played in the National Hockey League with four teams between 1948 and 1960. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1945 to 1965, was spent in various minor leagues. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Pascal Pelletier is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for the ZSC Lions of the National League (NL). He is one of four players from Labrador to play in the NHL. Pelletier was born in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Andrew Harry McKim is a Canadian former ice hockey centre. He played in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins and the Detroit Red Wings, playing a total of 38 regular season games.
Dan LaCosta is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played 4 games in the National Hockey League with the Columbus Blue Jackets between 2008 and 2009. He was drafted in the third round, 94th overall, by the Blue Jackets in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to becoming professional, LaCosta played junior ice hockey with the Wellington Dukes, Owen Sound Attack, and the Barrie Colts.
Darryl C. Williams is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former professional player. He is the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers who played extensively in the minor leagues and played two games for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League during the 1992–93 season. He is also formerly an assistant coach for the New York Rangers.
The Clarenville Caribous are a senior ice hockey team based in Clarenville, Newfoundland and Labrador and a member of the Central West Senior Hockey League. The Caribous are three-time winners of the Herder Memorial Trophy as all-Newfoundland and Labrador Senior Hockey Champions and winners of the 2011 Allan Cup as National Senior "AAA" Hockey Champions.

The Northeast Senior Eagles are a senior ice hockey team based in Torbay, Newfoundland and Labrador as part of the New East Coast Senior Hockey League. They have been a member of the Avalon East Senior Hockey league since its inception in 1967. They currently play out of the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay, Newfoundland. Their home games are Friday nights at 8:00pm.

The Newfoundland Senior Hockey League (NSHL) was a senior ice hockey league in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada founded in 2011. The NSHL operated for three seasons from 2011–2012 to 2013–2014. The league competed for the Herder Memorial Trophy and its teams were eligible for the Allan Cup playoffs.
The Harbour Grace CeeBee Stars, are a senior ice hockey team based in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Labrador and part of the Avalon East Senior Hockey League. The CeeBees are eight-time winners of the Herder Memorial Trophy as provincial champions.
