Bellator 286: Pitbull vs. Borics was a mixed martial arts event produced by Bellator MMA that took place on October 1, 2022, at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California, United States. [1] [2] [3] [4]
In his first bout since reclaiming the Bellator Featherweight World Championship at Bellator 277 in April, Patrício Pitbull faced off against Ádám Borics, who was on a four-fight winning streak and coming off a unanimous decision win over Mads Burnell at Bellator 276. [3]
A. J. McKee moved up to lightweight for the first time after losing his first bout in his career in a title defense against Patrício Pitbull at Bellator 277 in April. In the opposite corner, he faced Spike Carlyle, who has won five straight bouts since parting ways with the UFC in 2020, and was coming off two techncial submission wins under Bellator contract, against Dan Moret in December at Bellator 272 and Koji Takeda in April at Rizin 35. At weigh ins, the bout between Juan Archuleta and Enrique Barzola was moved to a catchweight of 141 pounds; while two fighters missed weight; Spike Carlyle, was .6 pounds over the division non-title fight limit at 156.6 lbs, and Dominic Clark, who came in at 2.2 pounds over the limit at 158.2 lbs for his lightweight bout. Carlyle and Clark were fined 20% of their purses and the bouts continued at catchweights. [5] [6]
A Lightweight bout between Mike Hamel and Max Rohskopf was planned for the event; however it was scrapped the day of the event as Rohskopf was not cleared by doctors. [7]

Patrício Freire, known professionally as Patrício Pitbull, is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist. He currently competes in Bellator MMA where he is the current three-time Bellator Featherweight Champion and former Bellator Lightweight Champion. He is the younger brother of lightweight fighter Patricky Pitbull. He is the second-ever simultaneous two-weight champion in Bellator MMA history, and is widely considered to be the best Bellator fighter of all-time. He is also considered one of the best ever, pound-for-pound, to have never fought in the UFC.
Pat Curran is a retired American mixed martial artist, and a former two-time Bellator Featherweight World Champion. He is the cousin of World Extreme Cagefighting veteran Jeff Curran and fought primarily with Xtreme Fighting Organization (XFO) before signing with Bellator, where he is the winner of Bellator Season Two Lightweight Tournament and the Bellator 2011 Summer Series. From July 2011 till April 2014 and January 2018 till July 2018, Curran was ranked in the top #10 Featherweights in the world by Fight Matrix, rising to as high as #2 from July 2012 till April 2013.
Patricky Freire, known professionally as Patricky Pitbull, is a Brazilian mixed martial artist currently competing in Bellator's Lightweight division, where he is a former Bellator Lightweight Champion. He is the older brother of featherweight fighter Patrício Pitbull.
Michael Chandler is an American professional mixed martial artist. He currently competes in the Lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). A professional competitor since 2009, Chandler first gained notoriety while competing for Bellator MMA, an organization he competed in from 2010 through 2020. There, Chandler became a three-time Bellator Lightweight Champion and was the winner of the Bellator Season Four Lightweight Tournament.
