Belvedere Apartments is a well-preserved apartment building located at 206 Hitt Street in downtown Columbia, Missouri. Built in 1927, the building was designed by noted architect Nelle Peters. [1] The building was added to Columbia's Notable Buildings List in 2008 [2] and is a possible candidate for the National Register of Historic Places. [3] As of 2014, the apartments are being rented by private individuals. [4]

The Lamine River is a 63.8-mile-long (102.7 km) tributary of the Missouri River in central Missouri in the United States. It is formed in northern Morgan County, about 4 miles (6 km) southeast of Otterville by the confluence of Flat and Richland creeks, and flows generally northwardly through Cooper and Pettis counties. In northwestern Cooper County the Lamine collects the Blackwater River and flows into the Missouri River northeast of Lamine and 6 miles (10 km) west of Boonville. At Clifton City, the river has a mean annual discharge of 455 cubic feet per second. Below the mouth of the Blackwater River, its discharge averages 1,279 cubic feet per second

Laws Hall (University of Missouri)

Laws Hall was a residence hall at the University of Missouri. Located at the corner of Tiger Avenue and Kentucky Boulevard, Laws comprised a gross area of 72,871 square feet (6,769.9 m2) over 9 floors and basement area. The street address was 1005 Tiger Ave. 65201. The structure was constructed in 1957 as a women's residence hall. Eventually made a co-education residence hall, Laws housed students until the end of the 2015-2016 academic year. The building was demolished in March 2017 as part the final phase of the university's residence halls master plan.

Jesse Hall Building in Columbia Missouri, United States

Jesse Hall is the main administration building for the University of Missouri. Its dome has towered 180 feet above the south end of David R. Francis Quadrangle since its completion in 1895. In the lawn in front of Jesse Hall are The Columns, all that remains of its predecessor Academic Hall, which burned in 1892. The building contains the office of the chancellor, university registrar, graduate school, admissions, and financial aid. One of the most photographic landmarks in Missouri, the building was designed by Missouri architect Morris Frederick Bell, and is his largest surviving work. Jesse Auditorium had hosted graduations and many university functions over the years. The University Concert Series presents national and international concerts, Broadway shows, performers, bands, speakers, and theater to the largest auditorium in Columbia. As the former home of the School of Music, student performances occasionally happen. The building is the most prominent contributing structure to the David R. Francis Quadrangle National Register of Historic Places District. In 1922 "New Academic Hall" became "Jesse Hall" in honor of retiring University President Richard Henry Jesse.

Red Campus is the historical core of the University of Missouri campus in Columbia primarily gathered around the David R. Francis Quadrangle. The area takes its name from the red bricks that make up most of the buildings including Jesse Hall and Switzler Hall. The campus contains 18 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places and area is nearly congruent with the Francis Quadrangle National Historic District. The Red Campus stands in contrast to the neo-gothic White Campus, which it borders on the east.

Academic Hall was the original main building of the University of Missouri. It was dedicated in 1843 and destroyed by fire in 1892. Academic Hall's six Ionic columns, today known as The Columns, stand on Francis Quadrangle as the most recognizable symbol of the University of Missouri.

City Hall (Columbia, Missouri)

City Hall in Columbia, Missouri, also known as the Daniel Boone Building, was built in 1917. A major addition and restoration was completed in 2011, along with a matching five-story structure. Originally built as a hotel, it has functioned as the city hall of Columbia since 1972 by (respectively) replacing the municipal building across the street. The building is a contributing property on the National Register of Historic Places in the Downtown Columbia, Missouri historic district and is at the intersection of Broadway and the Avenue of the Columns. The chambers of the Columbia City Council are on the ground floor.

New Lebanon, Missouri

New Lebanon is an unincorporated community in Cooper County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is on Missouri Route A between Otterville seven miles to the south and Pilot Grove seven miles to the north. The Lamine River flows past about two miles west of the community.

North Village Arts District

The North Village Arts District is a neighborhood and arts district in Columbia, Missouri. It is located on the northeast side of Downtown Columbia, and is the city's main art gallery district and center for the visual arts. The neighborhood is also home to restaurants, bars, food trucks, housewares shops, theaters, and a distillery. Rose Music Hall, a popular music venue, is located on Park Avenue. There are several dance studios, including the Missouri Contemporary Ballet. The district hosts a monthly art crawl called "First Fridays".

The Columbia City Council is the lawmaking body of the city of Columbia, Missouri. It has seven elected members, including the Mayor of Columbia. Each member represents one of the city's six wards, except the mayor who is elected by city-wide vote. Council members are elected for three-year terms. Elections are held annually, as the terms are staggered. In addition to lawmaking, the main duties of the council include hiring a city manager and appointing citizens to boards and commissions; of which there are 57 as of 2019. The council members receive a stipend; however, there has been debate over making members full-time city employees. The council meets in Columbia's City Hall, also known as the Daniel Boone Building.
