Ben Danford (born February 6, 2006) is a Canadian junior ice hockey defenceman for the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) as a prospect to the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted 31st overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2024 NHL entry draft.
On April 20, 2022, Danford was drafted 14th overall by the Oshawa Generals in the 2022 OHL Draft. [1] On May 13, 2022, he signed with the Generals. [2] During the 2022–23 season, in his first season with the Generals, he recorded four goals and 17 assists in 63 regular season games. [3] During the 2023–24 season, he recorded one goal and 32 assists in 64 regular season games. During the playoffs he recorded four goals and six assists in 21 games. [4] [5]
On June 28, 2024, Danford was drafted 31st overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2024 NHL entry draft. [6] [7] He was later signed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Maple Leafs on August 2, 2024. [8]
Danford's father, Allan, was drafted in the 15th round of the 1987 OHL Draft by the Toronto Marlboros. [9] His family owns a construction company, Danford Construction. [10]

The London Knights are a junior ice hockey team from London, Ontario, Canada, playing in the Ontario Hockey League, one of the leagues of the Canadian Hockey League. The Knights started out in 1965 as the London Nationals but changed to their current name in 1968. The Knights have won two Memorial Cup championships.
The Oshawa Generals are a junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League. They are based in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. The team is named for General Motors, an early sponsor which has its Canadian headquarters in Oshawa. In November 2016, the General Motors Centre changed its name to Tribute Communities Centre. Its 184 graduates to the National Hockey League are second in the OHL. The Generals have won the Memorial Cup five times -, as well as a record thirteen Ontario Hockey League Championships, the J. Internationally, DeGray represented Canada on one occasion; he was a member of the bronze medal winning team at the 1995 World Championship. DeGray is currently the general manager of the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and was named the OHL Executive of the Year in 2010–11.
Denis Joseph Smith is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman and current assistant coach of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously served as head coach of the Ottawa Senators for five seasons between 2019-2023. As a player, Smith played 45 NHL games with both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche. As a coach, Smith won the Memorial Cup in 2015 and spent four years as an assistant with the Maple Leafs before joining Ottawa.
