Ben Stirling (born 16 August 1998) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder or centre-back for Stenhousemuir. [2]

Club career

Stirling began his career with Hibernian, moving on loan to Berwick Rangers in July 2016. [3] [4] He moved on loan to Cowdenbeath in August 2017, [5] but the loan was cut short in January 2018 after he was recalled by Hibernian manager Neil Lennon. [6] [7] He spent further loans spells at Arbroath in September 2019, [8] [9] [10] and Alloa Athletic in January 2020. [11]

He moved to Hamilton Academical in September 2020. [12] [13] On 14 January 2022, Stirling joined Scottish League Two side Edinburgh City on loan for the remainder of the 2021–22 season. [14]

He was released by Hamilton at the end of his contract in May 2022. [15] Stirling then signed with Edinburgh City again, this time permanently. However, he missed a big part of the 2022–23 season due to injuries. [16] In January 2024 he signed for Stenhousemuir. [17]

International career

Stirling made three appearances for Scotland at under-16 level in 2013. [18]

After a very strong start to the season in which they challenged for the league leadership, Hibs then had a slump in form in the later part of the season. The team eventually secured a Europa League place via finishing fourth in the SPL by winning 2–0 on the final day at Tannadice. Hibs were eliminated from the Scottish Cup in a quarter final replay by Ross County and were knocked out of the Scottish League Cup in the third round by St Johnstone.
