Benjamin James Verellen is an American musician and audio engineer from Tacoma, Washington.

Career

Musician

Verellen's first role was as bassist of the Tacoma post-hardcore/noise rock group Harkonen which formed in 1995. [1] [2] Harkonen released their debut album in 1999 through Wreck-Age before signing to Hydra Head Records in 2001. [2] The group's final release was Like a Virgin—a split release with These Arms Are Snakes— before disbanding in 2005.

He formed the country music/folk rock band Roy as a side project in 2002 with his brother Dave Verellen and Brian Cook. The group released two studio albums and a few EPs and has been inactive since 2006. [3]

Verellen performed additional bass on These Arms Are Snakes' debut album Oxeneers or the Lion Sleeps When Its Antelope Go Home , [4] and was also briefly a touring drummer in 2005 until he abruptly quit without explanation and was quickly replaced by Chris Common. [5]

He is currently a member of the experimental metal band Helms Alee. [6]

Other avenues

In 2000, Verellen began working as an audio engineer for many local Washington bands in his basement. [1] He later earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, and started his own business building and selling guitar amplifiers called Verellen Amplifiers. [1] [6]

Botch was an American mathcore band formed in 1993 in Tacoma, Washington. The band, featuring Brian Cook, Dave Knudson, Tim Latona and Dave Verellen, spent four years as a garage band and released several demos and EPs before signing to Hydra Head Records. Through the label, Botch released two studio albums: American Nervoso (1998) and We Are the Romans (1999). The group toured extensively and internationally in support of their albums with liked-minded bands such as The Blood Brothers, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Ink & Dagger and Jesuit. Botch struggled to write a third studio album, and in 2002 the group broke up due to tensions among the band members and creative differences. Dave Verellen is an American singer. He grew up in Tacoma, Washington, and was the vocalist for the mathcore band Botch. He has since gone on to play drums for the folk-country band Roy with his brother Ben Verellen. In 2008 he formed the band Narrows with members of Some Girls and These Arms Are Snakes.

These Arms Are Snakes was an American post-hardcore band that formed in 2002 and featured former members of Botch and Kill Sadie. Before disbanding in 2009, they released three studio albums: Oxeneers or the Lion Sleeps When Its Antelope Go Home (2004), Easter (2006) and Tail Swallower and Dove (2008). The discography of In Flames, a Swedish metal band formed in the early 1990s, consists of thirteen studio albums, one live album, three extended plays, nine singles, two video albums, and twenty-eight music videos. Signed with Wrong Again Records, In Flames released their full-length debut, Lunar Strain (1994), followed by the EP Subterranean (1995). After signing to Nuclear Blast, they released The Jester Race (1996). The following year, they issued their second EP, Black-Ash Inheritance, and the full-length album Whoracle. "Between You and Me" is a song by the American contemporary Christian music group DC Talk. Released in 1996, it was the second radio and commercial single released from the group's fourth album, Jesus Freak. After the unexpected success of the grunge rock single "Jesus Freak", "Between You and Me" helped to bring DC Talk to a new level of success and solidify them as mainstream artists. Brian Cook (bassist) American bass guitarist

Brian Cook is an American bass guitarist currently in the bands Russian Circles and Sumac. He was also previously a full-time member of Botch, These Arms Are Snakes and Roy, and also a session musician for Mouth of the Architect. Cook is also a freelance journalist and has published a book titled The Second Chair is Meant for You. He is openly gay.

Roy was an American folk and indie rock band. They were formed in 2002 in Tacoma, Washington.

Heiress is an American band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 2006. Their style blends influences from hardcore punk, heavy metal and post-rock. They signed to Deathwish Inc. in 2010, and released their debut album Early Frost in 2013.

Painted is the second studio album by the international rock band Narrows. The album was released on February 28, 2012 through Deathwish Inc. To promote Painted, prior to its release Narrows previewed the tracks "Under the Guillotine" and "Absolute Betrayer". A music video was also made for the song "TB Positive".

Kevin Shields is an Irish musician, singer-songwriter, composer and producer who has released three studio albums with My Bloody Valentine and collaborated with 25 different artists. He began performing in the late 1970s and formed the Dublin-based punk rock band The Complex with drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig and guitarist Liam Ó Maonlaí. Following Ó Maonlaí's departure, Shields and Ó Cíosóig recruited vocalist David Conway and formed a new band, My Bloody Valentine, in 1983.
