Benaras Media Works Pvt. Ltd is an Indian film production company established by Anubhav Sinha in 2011. Based in Mumbai, it mainly produces Hindi films. [1]
The company's first production was Gurmmeet Singh's Warning (2013) [2] starring Santosh Barmola, Madhurima Tuli, Manjari Fadnis, Varun Sharma, Jitin Gulati and Sumit Suri. Followed by Gulaab Gang (2014) [3] starring Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla.
Benaras Media Works under the directions of Anubhav Sinha began producing socially relevant films such as Mulk (film) (2018), [4] Article 15 (film) (2019), [5] Thappad (2020). These films were both critically acclaimed and commercially successful.
The company later produced Anek (2022), Middle Class Love (2022), [6] Faraaz (2023), [7] Bheed (2023) and Afwaah (2023), [8] further expanding its portfolio.
In 2024 Benaras Mediaworks, in association with Matchbox Shots [9] produced IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack , a critically acclaimed television series based on the real-life hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight IC 814 from Kathmandu to Delhi. The Series became one of the most-watched shows of the year and remained in Netflix's global Top 10 for eight weeks.
