The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle is a secular-nationalist political party in Indonesia. With 128 seats, it is the ruling and largest party in the House of Representatives (DPR). The party is currently led by Megawati Sukarnoputri, who served as the President of Indonesia from 2001 to 2004. It is also the party of the current president, Joko Widodo.
The Democratic Party is a centrist, nationalist-religious political party in Indonesia. It was founded on 9 September 2001 as the political vehicle of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). The party gained its initial parliamentary representation following the 2004 legislative election. It then became one of the major parties in Yudhoyono's governing coalition. The party assumed power by winning the majority of votes in the 2009 legislative election. Since 2014, the party has served as the opposition to the Joko Widodo administration.
The People's Conscience Party, better known by its abbreviation, Hanura, is a political party in Indonesia. It was established following a meeting in Jakarta on 13–14 December 2006 and first headed by former Indonesian National Armed Forces commander Wiranto. The party lost its seats in parliament after a poor performance in the 2019 general election.
The NasDem Party is a political party in Indonesia. It is partly funded by media baron Surya Paloh who founded the similarly named organization, National Democrats. Despite this, and logo similarity, Nasional Demokrat has insisted that it is not linked with the party.
Marzuki Alie is an Indonesian politician and businessman who served as the fifteenth speaker of the People's Representative Council from 2009 until 2004. A member of the Democratic Party until 2021, he was kicked from the party during an internal leadership struggle within the party. Marzuki Alie also served as Secretary General of Partai Demokrat, the party formed by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Legislative elections were held in Indonesia on 9 April 2014 to elect 136 members of the Regional Representative Council (DPD), 560 members of the People's Representative Council (DPR) and members of regional assemblies at the provincial and regency/municipality level. For eligible voters residing outside Indonesia, elections were held on 5 or 6 April 2014 based on the decision of the electoral commission of each different countries.
Puan Maharani Nakshatra Kusyala Devi is an Indonesian politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), who is serving as the current speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Indonesia's lower house since 2019. She is the first female and the third-youngest person to take the office permanently, being aged 46, when she took the oath of office. She previously served as the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs between 2014 and 2019, becoming the first female and the youngest coordinating minister, being only 41 when she took office.
The 2018 East Nusa Tenggara gubernatorial election took place on 27 June 2018 as part of the simultaneous local elections. It was held to elect the governor of East Nusa Tenggara along with their deputy, whilst members of the provincial council will be re-elected in 2019.
General elections are scheduled to be held in Indonesia on 14 February 2024 to elect the President, Vice President, People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) which consists of the DPR and the DPD, and members of local legislative bodies. The newly elected members of the MPR will be sworn in on 1 October 2024, while the elected President and Vice President will be sworn in on 20 October 2024. Incumbent President Joko Widodo is ineligible to run for a third term due to the term limits established by the Indonesian constitution.

The Indonesia omnibus law protests were a series of demonstrations and civil disorder against Indonesia's Omnibus Law on Job Creation which was passed on 5 October 2020 as well as President Joko Widodo. Demonstrations had begun on 13 January 2020 while the then-bill, claimed by the government as vital to boosting the country's manufacturing industry and foreign investment, was still being drafted. Protesters were concerned with the law's impact on the protection of the environment and working conditions.
The Job Creation Act, officially Act Number 11/2020 on Job Creation, is a bill that was passed on 5 October 2020 by Indonesia's People's Representative Council (DPR), with the aim of creating jobs and raising foreign and domestic investment by reducing regulatory requirements for business permits and land acquisition processes. Due to its length of 1,035 pages and its coverage of many non-employment sectors, it is also referred to in Indonesia as an omnibus bill. The final draft was changed to 812 pages due to pagination being changed to legal format. After being passed into law, there were various substantial text alterations and deletions, as well as procedural issues, which made its legal status eligible for being formally annulled.

I Gede Pasek Suardika is an Indonesian lawyer and politician of the Nusantara Awakening Party (PKN) and its chairman between 2021 and 2023. He was a member of the People's Representative Council between 2009–2014 and the Regional Representative Council between 2014–2019. Before becoming PKN's chairman, Suardika was a member of the Democratic Party and was a member of the People's Conscience Party between 2016 and 2021.
Said Iqbal is an Indonesian labour activist and politician. He is the first president of the Labour Party, founded in 2021, and has served as president of the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation since 2012.
Jafar Nainggolan is an Indonesian politician and retired military colonel who served as a member of the People's Representative Council (DPR) from 2009 to 2014. He represented the electoral district of Sumatra Utara I, which covers the provinces of North Sumatra and Aceh. He is a member of the Partai Demokrat, the ruling party of former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
