The Berlin Brothersvalley School District is a school district in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It covers the Berlin and New Baltimore boroughs. It also covers the following townships: Allegheny, Fairhope, and Northampton, as well as the majority of Brothersvalley Township. [1]
The school district consists of three schools all connected by a tunnel. The district encompasses 165.5 square miles. According to a 2006 local census, it serves a resident population of 5,633.

Stonycreek Township is a township in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, United States. The township takes its name from the stony creek, which flows through it and represents its western boundary. The stream takes its name from the rocky bed over which it flows for a great part of its course. Its Indian name was Sinne-Hanne or Achsin-Hanne. Hanne means a stream and especially a swift mountain stream. The population was 2,087 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania, metropolitan statistical area.

State Correctional Institution – Somerset is a medium-security, all-male correctional facility located outside Somerset, Pennsylvania, about 70 miles (110 km) southeast of Pittsburgh, and about 5 miles (8.0 km) off the Somerset Interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. In March 2024, 44 of Pennsylvania's death row inmates were moved to Somerset. They were previously at SCI Phoenix, which continues to house other death penalty prisoners.
The Beechdale Bridge, also known as the Burkholder Bridge, is a historic covered bridge in Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Township Route 548 crosses Buffalo Creek on the bridge, southwest of Berlin. The Burr truss bridge was built in 1870 by an unknown builder and is owned by the county. A distinctive feature of the bridge is the low sidewalls, which leave much of the structure open to view. It is one of 10 covered bridges in Somerset County.

Shanksville-Stonycreek High School, located near the small community of Shanksville, in central Somerset County is a small high school serving a census of 146 in grades 9-12. Located within five miles is the newly dedicated Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands.
