Bertram Nathanial Bowery (born 29 October 1954) is an English former professional footballer who played in England and the United States as a striker.
Bowery was born in Saint Kitts and Nevis, and grew up in England. His son Jordan is also a professional footballer. [1]
Bowery began his career in non-league football with Ilkeston Town and Worksop Town, before starting a professional career with Nottingham Forest where he became the first signing of Brian Clough, agreeing a two-and-a-half-year contract for a fee of £2000. [2] He played for Forest between 1975 and 1976, and made two league appearances, scoring two goals. [3] While at Forest, he spent a loan spell with Lincoln City in 1976, where he made four league appearances and scored one goal. [4] Bowery later played in the NASL for the Boston Minutemen and Team Hawaii, [5] before returning to England to play non-league football with Long Eaton United and Arnold.
Trevor John Francis is an English former footballer who played as a forward for a number of clubs in England, the United States, Italy, Scotland and Australia. In 1979 he became Britain's first £1 million player following his transfer from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest. He scored the winning goal for Forest in the 1979 European Cup final against Malmö. He won the European Cup again with the club the following year. At international level, he played for England 52 times between 1976 and 1986, scoring 12 goals, and played at the 1982 FIFA World Cup.
John Neilson Robertson is a Scottish former professional footballer. He provided the assisting cross for Trevor Francis to score the only goal when Nottingham Forest won the 1979 European Cup Final. A year later he scored when Forest retained the trophy 1-0 this time against Hamburger SV. At Forest he also won promotion from the 1976–77 Football League Second Division, the 1977–78 Football League First Division, the UEFA Super Cup, two Football League Cups, the 1978 FA Charity Shield and the Anglo-Scottish Cup.

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Matthewson had a spell playing for the Byker Youth Club's football team before he was signed by Bolton Wanderers. After six appearances for Bolton in six seasons, including three appearances in the Football League, Matthewson was allowed to leave the club on a free transfer by manager Bill Ridding. He then joined Lincoln City but never played a league game for them. He then entered National Service. Upon his return an engineering colleague persuaded him to take up refereeing back in Bolton in 1958–1959, progressing through local leagues to the Lancashire Combination and Northern Premier League.
