Bertie Foreman (born 13 May 2004) is an English cricketer who plays for Sussex County Cricket Club. He is a right handed off spin bowler and left-handed batsman.
He played as a youngster for St James's Montefiore in Ditchling. [1] Foreman later played for Horsham Cricket Club,winning the Sussex League in 2023. [2]
He signed a rookie contract with Sussex County Cricket Club in October 2022. [3] In August 2023,he extended his rookie contract with Sussex. [4] He made his List-A cricket debut for Sussex on the 20 August 2023 against Worcester in the 2023 One-Day Cup. [5]
In the winter of 2023-24 he played for Manly Warringahs in NSW Premier Cricket and was awarded the O’Reilly Medal for the first-grade men’s player of the year. [6] He was the leading wicket-taker in the competition with 50 wickets at an average of 17.16 including three five-wicket hauls. He was named player of the match on five occasions throughout the season with best bowling figures of 7-38 against Penrith. With Manly he qualified for the grand final. [7]
He signed a two-year professional contract with Sussex in April 2024. [8]
He made his debut for England Under-19s in August 2022. [9] That year,he featured in two Test matches and one ODI against Sri Lanka Under-19s. [10] Playing for England under-19s at the Alan Border Oval on February 1 2023,he scored 58 not out and took five wickets playing against Australia U19. [11]
He is the grandson of former Sussex cricketer and Brighton and Hove Albion footballer Denis Foreman. [12]
Mushtaq Ahmed is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer who currently acts as the spin bowling coach for the Bangladesh national cricket team. A leg break googly bowler,at his peak he was described as being one of the best three wrist-spinners in the world. In an international career that spanned from 1990 until 2003,he claimed 185 wickets in Test cricket and 161 in One Day Internationals. He was at his most prolific internationally between 1995 and 1998,but his most successful years were as a domestic player for Sussex in the early 2000s.
Gary Keedy is a retired English cricketer. A slow-left arm spin bowler,he played one match for Yorkshire in 1994,having graduated from their cricket academy,before moving to Lancashire in 1995. He played for the club until 2012 taking over 500 first-class wickets. Although he had played youth internationals,he never played for the senior England team,although he was named in the squad a few times. In 2011 he was part of the Lancashire squad that won the County Championship for the first time since 1950. Keedy subsequently played one season for Surrey and two for Nottinghamshire before retiring as a professional cricketer in 2015. After studying physiotherapy at the University of Salford,he is currently Nottinghamshire's spin bowling coach and assistant physiotherapist.
