The World Organization of the Scout Movement is the largest and, after the Order of World Scouts, is the second-oldest international scout organization, having been established in 1922. It has 176 members. These members are national scout organizations that founded WOSM or have subsequently been recognised by WOSM, which collectively have around 43 million participants. Its operational headquarters is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia while it is legally based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Junák – český skaut, is the internationally recognized organization of Scouts and Guides of the Czech Republic. Founded in 1911, Junák – český skaut is the largest organisation of children and youth in the nation, with a membership of 73,315.
The Republican Scout Association of Belarus is one of several nationwide Scouting associations in Belarus. It is the body recognized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement from 1998 to 2004 and again from September 5, 2010.
The Association of Scouts of Azerbaijan the national Scouting organization of Azerbaijan, was founded in 1997, and became the 150th member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement on 20 August 2000. In 2017 it was admitted as a full member in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. The coeducational association has 1,571 members as of 2021, about 35% are girls.
The Savez izviđača u Bosne i Hercegovine is the state Scouting organisation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was founded on 17 December 2011 through the merger of the three constituent organisation of its predecessor, the Savjet izviđačkih organizacija u Bosni i Hercegovini, which was a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement since 1999. The coeducational Council of Scout Associations in Bosnia and Herzegovina has 1,250 members as of 2011.
The European Scout Region is one of five geographical subdivisions of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, with a satellite office in Brussels, Belgium.
Estonian Scout Association is the primary national Scouting organization of Estonia, became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1996. The coeducational Eesti Skautide Ühing has 1,337 members as of 2011.
Scouting in Kyrgyzstan was founded in November 1994 and is not yet a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, but is working toward WOSM recognition. Kyrgyzstan has multiple Scout associations, several of which are members of Kyrgyz Respublikasynyn Skaut Kengesh, the Kyrgyz Republic Scouting Union.
Lietuvos skautija, the primary national Scouting organization of Lithuania, became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1997. The coeducational Lietuvos skautija has 1,446 members as of 2012.
Slovenský skauting, is the primary national Scouting and Guiding organization of Slovakia. Currently has around 7000 members. With 3,157 Scouts and about 3,000 Guides. Slovenský Skauting is the largest youth organization in Slovakia and a member of both the World Organization of the Scout Movement and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
The Eurasian Scout Region was the divisional office of the World Scout Bureau of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, headquartered in Kyiv, formerly located at Gurzuf near Yalta-Krasnokamianka, Ukraine, with a branch office in Moscow. All the formerly communist states of Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Soviet Union have developed or are developing Scouting in the wake of the renaissance in the region. These include most of the successor states to the Soviet Union, in the Commonwealth of Independent States. The 1996/99 Triennial Report of the World Scout Committee/World Organization of the Scout Movement shows that WOSM is aggressively pursuing the organization of Scouting activities in the countries of the former Soviet Union, according to its own vision.
Scouting in Ukraine received World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) recognition in July 2008. The Eurasian Region headquarters is located on Ukrainian territory.
Scouts of Syria is the national Scout and Guide organization of Syria. Scouting in Syria was founded in 1912; Guiding started in the 1950s. The coeducational association serves 9,358 members and is a member of both the World Organization of the Scout Movement and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
The Botswana Scouts Association, the national Scouting organization of Botswana, was founded in 1936, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1958. The boys only Botswana Scouts Association claims a membership of more than 10,000 Scouts; however, WOSM lists only 2,075 members as of 2011.
The Solomon Islands Scout Association (SISA), (formerly the Solomon Islands branch of The Scout Association, founded in 1928, is a National Scout Organisation of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. It was a branch of the United Kingdom Scout Association for historical reasons and because the number of Scouts in the Solomon Islands was relatively small. Moves to achieve official WOSM membership began as early as 2007, and this recognition was granted in June 2021. The Chief Scout role is traditionally held by the Governor General, Nathaniel Waena.
There are various controversies and conflicts that involve the Scouting movement. Scouting has sometimes become entangled in social controversies such as in nationalist resistance movements in India. Scouting was introduced to Africa by British officials as an instrument of colonial authority but became a subversive challenge to the legitimacy of British imperialism as Scouting fostered solidarity amongst African Scouts. There are also controversies and challenges within the Scout Movement itself such as current efforts to turn Scouts Canada into a democratic organization.
Shoqata e Guidave dhe Skoutëve në Shqipëri is one of Albania's Scouting and Guiding organizations. The coeducational organization was founded in 1998 and recognised by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts as a country working towards membership. The association served about 350 members in 2006.

Vajzat Udhëheqëse të Shqipërisë is one of Albania's Scouting and Guiding organizations. In January 2017, VUSh chose board members and in April, a World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts evaluation delegation visited Albania to assess VUSh's potential to become an associate member. The organization was recognized as an associate member by the WAGGGS at the 36th WAGGGS World Conference held in New Delhi in September 2017, in tandem with Niger and at the same time Syria, Aruba, Azerbaijan and Palestine became full members. As of September 2017, over 200 6-16-year-old girls have joined the movement in 10 cities including Berat, Vlora, Librazhd, Peqini, Fier, and Rrëshen.
Scouts of Albania is a scouting organization in Albania, established in 2021, which became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in August 2024.
