Bhushan Patel is a Gujarati. His father was a cameraman. [4] Patel studied at Jamnabai Narsee School and lived at Vile Parle next to Vikram Bhatt, another director he became friends with. [4]

The wife (Sanjana) soon realises that her husband (Aditya) is part of a ghostly and scary conspiracy, which she must solve to restore their relationship. The film is an unofficial adaptation of the American film What Lies Beneath (2000).

The movie is the sequel to the 2011 horror movie Ragini MMS. Ragini MMS 2 features Sunny Leone and Saahil Prem in lead roles in a continuation of the plot from the prequel. Unlike the first film, the movie is not shot in found footage format. The film received an A certificate. The film was a major commercial success, being declared a hit at the box office, and catapulting Sunny as a mainstream actress.

Ragini MMS 2 is the soundtrack album to the 2014 film of the same name directed by Bhushan Patel and produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and ALT Entertainment. The album featured six songs composed by Meet Bros Anjjan, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Chirrantan Bhatt and Pranay Rijia, with lyrics written by Kumaar, Manoj Yadav and Singh. It was released under the T-Series label on 7 March 2014. The songs "Baby Doll" and "Chaar Bottle Vodka" became chartbusters, and Kanika Kapoor, who performed vocals for "Baby Doll" won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer amongst other accolades.
