Bianca 27 is a Danish built and designed sailboat, 27 feet long (eight meters). It was constructed in 1964-1965 by a naval architect Svend Aage Leth Christensen(b. 1933)[ citation needed ]. His wooden boat design, Peti, was a preliminary study for the Bianca.[ citation needed ] Together with his brother, boatbuilder Holger Leth Christensen (b. 1934)[ citation needed ] he founded the Bianca Yacht in Rudkoebing in the former depot for the local railwayon the island Langeland. Together with manager and boatbuilder Per Munch [ citation needed ] the brothers were among the pioneers in Danish boatbuilding using the new material, polyester reinforced fiberglass. Bianca 27 was the first Danish designed fiberglass-sailboat manufactured in large series. Production ran for more than ten years and the total number of completed boats is about 530. Bianca 27 is still a popular and stable yacht. Although the hull and superstructure is fiberglass, the boat has plenty of wood in it.[ citation needed ]

The Nordic Folkboat is a small sailboat, rigged as a sloop. The design of this boat was the result of a competition held by the Scandinavian Yacht Racing Union in 1942, who were hoping to create an easily sailed and low-cost boat. The competition produced no outright "winner " but, taking the best features of a number of the entries received, the organisers commissioned professional designer Tord Sundén to create a craft that met the goals of the design competition. The resulting boat went on to become an international favorite of sailors and still endures more than 70 years after its design. The first Nordic Folkboat was built in Gothenburg in Sweden, and as of 2007, more than 4000 Nordic Folkboats are still sailing around the world.
