Bianca Pinheiro (Rio de Janeiro, September 21, 1987) is a Brazilian comics artist and illustrator. She graduated from Graphic Arts by UTFPR and did postgraduate studies in Comics by the Grupo Educacional Opet. [1] [2]

Bianca began publishing webcomics in 2012. Her main work is Bear, which tells the story of a lost girl who befriends a bear. Three printed volumes of the webcomic were launched by Editora Nemo in 2014, 2015 and 2016. In 2017, the book was launched in France by the publisher La Boîte à bulles entitled Raven et l'Ours. Between 2012 and 2015, Bianca also published a series of short comics online in her Tumblr, in Portuguese and in English. [3] [4] [2] [5] [6]

In 2015, Bianca won the Troféu HQ Mix, the main Brazilian comic book award, in the category "New talent (writer)" for her work in the horror graphic novel Dora. The book, published the previous year independently, was republished in 2016 by the publisher house Nemo, which had already released the printed editions of Bear. [7] [8] [9]

Among her main works are the independent comics Meu Pai é Um Homem da Montanha (written by Greg Stella, 2015) and Alho-Poró (2017), both financed by crowdfunding. She and Greg also published Eles Estão Por Aí (2018), by Todavia. She also did illustrations for several books, such as the children's book Palavras, Palabras (written by Lucio Luiz, Marsupial Editora, 2015) and the illustrated books Mônica(s) (many illustrators, Panini Comics, 2013) and Androides Sonham com Ovelhas Elétricas? (Aleph, 2017, Brazilian edition of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? , with special illustrations in honor of the book's 50th anniversary). [10] [11] [12] [13] [14]

In 2016, she launched the graphic novel Mônica - Força, part of the Graphic MSP label of Panini Comics, which brings new stories of the classic characters of Mauricio de Sousa created by independent Brazilian comics artists. This graphic novel won the Troféu HQ Mix of "best youth publication" in 2017 [15] [16]

In 2013, she published the theoretical book O Uso das Cores, by Marsupial Editora. She won the Troféu HQ Mix in 2016 and 2017, in the category "Best Colorist".

Mario also won the 2013 Prêmio Jabuti in "best illustration" and "best school related book" categories by comics adaptation of classic book Dom Casmurro.

Fabio Coala is a Brazilian comics artist. After five years of working as firefighter, he created the website Mentirinhas in which he publishes, starting in 2010, webcomics with different characters. One of the main characters is "O Monstro", a toy monster that helps children with problems by becoming a real monster for them. The first Monster's printed graphic novel was released in 2013 after a successful crowdfunding campaign and, in the following year, the book won the Troféu HQ Mix in the category "Best Independent Publication". A Coala's comic strip called "Perfeição" ("Perfection") was also adapted in 2014 as a short animated movie by Jacob Frey and Markus Kranzler. The movie, called The Present, has won 77 awards from several film festivals and has garnered critical acclaim.

Jefferson Costa is a Brazilian illustrator and comics artist. He has worked in several comic books, such as the adaptation of the book Kiss Me, Judas, as well as publications such as Quebra Queixo Technorama, A Dama do Martinelli and La Dansarina and works in Brazilian compilations Front and Bang Bang. He also published works in the North American anthologies Gunned Down and Outlaw Territory # 3. Jefferson also works with character design and animation scenarios, having worked on Cartoon Network Brazil's Historietas Assombradas para Crianças Malcriadas, as well as the Brazilian MTV series Megaliga, Fudêncio, The Jorges and Rockstarghost. In 2013, he won the Troféu HQ Mix in the "Best Comic Adaptation" category with Coleção Shakespeare em Quadrinhos Volume 4. Gedeone Malagola was a Brazilian comics artist and editor. He started his career in the 1940s, drawing for the newspaper A Marmita. He worked for several comic book publishers until he founded his own, Editora Júpiter. His main works were in the 1960s at GEP, where he created the superheroes Raio Negro, Hydroman and Homem Lua. In the late 1960s, Malagola wrote unofficial stories of the X-Men for GEP. In 1986, he was awarded the Prêmio Angelo Agostini for Master of National Comics, an award that aims to honor artists who have dedicated themselves to Brazilian comics for at least 25 years.

Prêmio Grampo de Grandes HQs, also just called Prêmio Grampo, is a comics award aimed at choosing the best comic books and graphic novels published in Brazil each year. Considered one of the most important awards in the Brazilian comics market, it was created by journalist Ramon Vitral and editor Lielson Zeni in 2015, and has professor and translator Maria Clara Carneiro in the organization since the second edition. The inspiration for the award was the "Best of the Year" lists made annually by journalist Télio Navega on his blog Gibizada based on rankings made by people connected to the Brazilian comics scene.
