Graphic MSP is a series of graphic novels published by Panini Comics based on the characters of Monica and Friends.

Development

In November 2011, during the Festival Internacional de Quadrinhos held in Belo Horizonte, Sidney Gusman, editor of Mauricio de Sousa Produções (Monica and Friends studio) announced that in 2012, it would be released the Graphic MSP, a series of graphic novels, that unlike the MSP 50 series, it would bring unique stories in about 72 pages each. The comic artist Danilo Beyruth was chosen to create a story for the Bubbly, in 2009, Beyruth had already written and drawn characters of Mauricio de Sousa for the MSP+50 album and produced a story for Bug-a-Booo. [1] In October 2012, is released the first graphic novel of the series, entitled Astronauta - Magnetar , with script and drawings by Beyruth and colors by Cris Peter. [2]

Horacio's World is a Brazilian comic strip, part of the Monica and Friends comic strips. The main character is Horácio, a baby Tyrannosaurus rex, created in 1961. He debuted as one of the supporting characters of Pitheco's comics in The Cavern Clan, but their solo stories started in 1963. Other minor characters appear occasionally, but Horacio's strips mostly consist of monologues and self-reflections, thus making him Mauricios's alter-ego. Also, all his stories are written by Mauricio himself.

Tina's Pals is a Brazilian comic strip series, part of the Monica's Gang series, created in 1970. The stories are aimed at a more teenage group of readers, rather than the kids who would read other Mauricio de Sousa's works and thus center around teenagers. However, Mauricio prefers not to mention drugs, sex, alcoholic drinks, or other similar subjects, which are very popular among teenagers. Instead, the strips are written with themes related to school or university, dating, problems with parents, etc.

Monica and Friends: Bonds is a 2019 Brazilian family adventure film produced by Estúdios Mauricio de Sousa, directed by Daniel Rezende, with screenplay written by Thiago Dottori, and starring Giulia Benite, Kevin Vechiatto, Laura Rauseo and Gabriel Moreira. The film was based on the eponymous graphic novel by Vitor and Lu Cafaggi and the series of homonymous comic books created by Mauricio de Sousa. The movie was first released in US during the Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival, on 16 November 2019.

Sidney Gusman is a Brazilian journalist and editor. Gusman graduated in journalism at the Methodist University of São Paulo and started writing professionally about comics in 1990, with articles published in newspapers such as Folha de S.Paulo, O Estado de S. Paulo, among others, as well as magazines such as Imprensa, Superinteressante, Duas Rodas etc. Between 2003 and 2006 he was editor of the Brazilian version of Wizard magazine. In 2006, he became responsible for the Editorial Planning area of Mauricio de Sousa Produções, where, among several other projects, he was the creator of the Graphic MSP series, which since 2012 has published several graphic novels with reinterpretations of the classic characters created by Mauricio de Sousa by several Brazilian artists. He is also editor-in-chief of Universo HQ, the most important news portal about comics in Brazil. Gusman won the Troféu HQ Mix as best specialized journalist seven times. He also won the Troféu Jayme Cortez twice, in 2004 and 2014.

<i>Pelezinho</i> (comics) Brazilian comic book series

Pelezinho is a Brazilian comic book series created by Mauricio de Sousa based on soccer star Pelé in his childhood. The character was created in 1976 from conversations between Mauricio and Pelé to create a character to better promote the player who at the time had just become a phenomenon for the Brazil national team. The characters were suggested by Pelé himself, based on childhood memories.
