Bidhir Bidhan was a Bengali television serial which used to air on Star Jalsha. It was produced by Grassroot Entertainment . It starred Tumpa Ghosh and Gourab Roy Chowdhury in lead roles and Anjana Basu in a negative role.

Significance

The serial was made to create mass awareness about superstitions. [1] [2] Bidhir Bidhan is a story of a young orphan Shyama, who is blissed by Ma Kali. Shyama is sheltered by the forgiving Baba Thakur and the revengeful Rudrani Ma. Rudrani Ma seeks revenge by trying to destroy the family of suryakanta her husband who left her for someone else. Rudrani Ma uses shyama as a bait and she marries Rono, suryakant's Son, who was born with the blessings of Shiva, guarding his family from evil. Rudrani Ma tries to harm evil. Rudrani ma tries to harm the couple but Rono and shyama, blessed by Mahadev and Kali, become each other's shield through love and faith in god. The story makes one realize that God can only be reach through love.

Prosenjit Chatterjee brought back the magic of this show by launching an audio CD of its tracks on Mahalaya on 12 October 2015. On account of Rabindranath Tagore's 157th birthday, Star Jalsha decided to gift audience by uploading Gaaner Oparey on Disney+ Hotstar on 9 May 2018. It was re-aired on Star Jalsha during the 2020 lockdown period, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anjana Basu is a Bengali Indian actress and BJP politician based in Kolkata. She started her acting career with modelling, and gradually with a serial "Robir Aloy" which aired on Alpha Bangla, she came into the limelight. The year was 2003. In 2005, she was a part of a horror film, Raat Barota Panch, after which she didn't have to look back. She has appeared in Aniket Chattopadhyay's Chha-e Chhuti and Bye Bye Bangkok. She has also worked in television mega-serials like Gaaner Oparey, Shonar Horin, Debdas, Bidhir Bidhan, Bodhuboron etc. Anjana has worked with Amol Palekar in Krishnakali.

Sonali Chowdhury Ghosh Dastidar is an Indian film and television actress. She has worked in Bengali cinema and television shows, including Saat Bhai Champa, Jol Nupur and Agniparikkha.

@Bhalobasha.com was a Bengali television serial which used to air on GRC Star Jalsha. It was produced by Snehasish Chakraborty. It starred Madhubani Ghosh and Raja Goswami as main leads. The series later starred Shweta Bhattacharya and Anindya Banerjee in lead roles after Raja and Madhuboni opted out. It replaced Star Jalsha's popular show Ekhane Aakash Neel.
